Well, I was talking to DH who lived in Gainesville for close to 20 years. His thoughts on the limestone roads. There are hundreds of miles of limestone roads in Alachua County. Limestone roads are like dirt roads just don't wash away so easily. There are old limestone quarries that are in active, but he really thinks there is no relevance or need in searching that direction. Many roads have limestone period. It's just everywhere.

He's absolutely correct, Coldpizza... living in the next county to Alachua, yes, there are plenty. That's another reason I'm questioning, Bravo's knowledge of the area... Mmmmm

I wonder what clues police have found and when (if ever) they will be releasing that info to the public.

They have been releasing one at a time, but usually they don't release all.

I feel like we have gotten more than most cases this early on.

RIP Christian. :-(

It is so sad to think that Christian was in Best Buy looking at new CD's with his 'best friend.' Little did he know that his pal had already bought a shovel and duct tape. That is so frightening. My kids are the same age and are off at school as well. And it is so frightening to think that they could be ambushed and brutally killed by someone they consider a friend.

BBM I think that's what's so riveting about this case. When I decided to take a peek at this thread when Christian first disappeared, I really didn't intend to get so caught up in it. But, this case has affected me so much. I haven't gotten much done this week because I keep reading through the thread and searching the Internet for updates. I finally had to do some grocery shopping today; my frig was getting a bit empty. I still need to eat something - lol - but wanted to check in here first.

Not too surprised that the charges have been upped, but it makes me just as sad. :( One would think that after damaging his SUV like that, Pedro would've abandoned his plan. Maybe he didn't go back to the place where he damaged his vehicle, thinking it too risky for him, but found a place more accessible. Seems like he was so determined to carry through with this, even after spending an afternoon with his buddy. :shakehead:

Murder charge filed in UF student's disappearance
snip
Bravo originally told police that he wrecked the Blazer about a week before Aguilar's disappearance, causing him to have to replace that rim, but police said none of that information could be confirmed.

"We had figured out some sort of a timeline for Christian on the last day he was seen. Now we're kind of switching gears to Pedro's timeline to figure out exactly where he was and see if we can kind of plug in some holes there," Gainesville police spokesman Ben Tobias said Friday morning.

I helped search on Monday the 24th of September. We were near the Cabana Beach apartments checking all wooded areas. I found the Aguilar family to be gracious, despite the agony they were going through. Christian's father made a point of thanking every searcher personally.
Today when they announced the new charges, I was devastated as I'm sure everyone here is too. I hope that they are confident in their new charges. If it is a game to make Pedro talk, I am really disappointed. However, my husband seems to feel that there was a confession and that Pedro is holding out on the location to plea bargain. He also can't plea bargain until charges are filed and now they are. And the police are frantically trying to find Christian now so that the original charges stick. Just speculation. LE had to have something solid in order to notify the family of their loved one's murder, as well as get the charges accepted.
But I can't understand why we are unable to find Christian. Pedro had only been in this area for a few weeks. He reportedly spent time with 3 friends that were also in Gainesville. He did ride a bicycle also. Perhaps he spent lonely time driving back roads... I just want Christian returned to his family.

Thank you so much Ray of hope for searching and sharing your experience with searching and meeting Christian's father. Others have mentioned the same of his appreciation.

I wonder if that is a possibility, he confessed but is doing a plea bargain for Christian's whereabouts?

BTW, I am very happy to be here. I have been obsessed with this case from the beginning as I have one young son at UF. The older son has graduated from college. But I remember dropping each of them off for their first year and feeling so vulnerable and depressed on the way home. This was Christian's time and he was robbed of all life has to offer. A happy and proud family had two sons and in a split tragic second...Their lives will never be the same.

New article with a little more information. Another roommate thinks PB came back to the home again after stopping back in between 8-10. Also that PB told the roommate his major was biomedical engineering, but he was only taking two classes, at and chemistry.

CA's major was biomedical engineering according to his family. I find that information a little disturbing. Moo

I find his claiming a major of biomedical engineering puzzling, too, considering community colleges are not geared towards majors... But primarily on under grad/general Ed classes completed.

I realize there may be some concentration, such as math and sciences... But not biomedical engineering, I would,think..

The decision to act upon his thoughts was made in a split second and he didn't look back. But IMO he took days to carry it out.

Glad you brought that up, I was wondering about the journal and was hoping it provided some insight.

Hello all, new here so please bear with me as I work out my kinks. I've read through this thread back and forth all week and decided to throw my 2 cents in. I live off NW 13th street in the stephen foster neighborhood. My first thought about streits was also, why there? Then I started thinking and if there is any truth to them even being in that direction I think there's only 1 reason. There's a seedy neighborhood very close where drugs are easy to find. I'm talking more along the lines of marijuana but you can get it all out there. I think this could also explain why the pings were all over. . Either looking for something to smoke or riding around to smoke. Also a couple other things I want to mention is that right around 5pm before the latest news broke I heard what I would describe as a parade of sirens in the distance, very unusual to have so many at one time, that was followed by 2, yes, 2 choppers sweeping the sky about an hour later. One is still up there as of 5 minutes ago going back and forth and its dark out now. These things could be unrelated but I find it a tad unusual myself. My gut tells me something big is about to break.
I live near one of the areas that was searched today, so we spoke with one of the officers that was searching. He said they were looking anywhere a "2 wheeled vehicle carrying weight" could go. Not sure how to take that.

I then spent quite a while search the woods near my house.

As to arrest reports from GPD. They are generally available at

P2c.gainesvillepd.org

If you search by name, you can get the reports. I didn't find anything, so I think ASO may be the one that arrested him. ASO does not have reports available on line as far as I know.

Open Campus is the portal that school uses for access to classes, not an ISP

Paynes Prairie is a possibility, but someone new to the area wouldn't know how to get to the prairie except thru the State park which is closed at night, or along I75 or 441 both of which would have a lot of traffic.

Please feel free to ask questions about the area. I have lived here 40 years, was a SFC and UF student.

That IMO only allows us in to his mind of jealousy and wanting to live Christian's life.

The gallon of bug spray really caught my attention. I was going to ask about that.

In this article ... http://www.bellinghamherald.com/2012/09/27/2708340/without-a-trace-university-of.html

... I have to wonder if Bravo was scouting out a place to perform his act of maleficence when the vehicle got stuck. Hopefully, the condition of the car, especially the tires, will give LE clues as to where to search for Christian.

Yes... Dirt, mud, sand, vegetation, etc.on the tires and underside could provide investigators with clues of where the blue blazer had been driven.

Thank You for the local info and :welcome: to WS. The news about the sirens is kind of bittersweet. I want him to be found, but cling to hope still...:rose:
