You got it Coldpizza.

Trying to skim over here on it, trying to see what dogs they brought out. Also noticed that they had a helicopter up, which looking on google earth doesn't look like that would be all that effective. Looks pretty dense.

How much time was spent in the first area?

Sarx, out of curiosity...how many days of searching normally go by before the police department pretty much stops searching? Right now they have Gaiensville police department, university police, and like 150 volunteers. But these people can't search forever. When do the police say enough?

That's a really tough question. It largely depends on if they are getting more info coming in, if it's gone cold, manpower, budget, weather, danger and risks vs. probability of detection. I know, not a real firm answer, sorry.

Are there any SAR groups working it? This is absolutely NO disrespect to the police or anyone who is working on it, but SAR are trained very differently than LE. Most LE agencies do minimal if any SAR training. It would be kind of like expecting a SAR person to go in and be part of the Hostage Negotiation team, or a sharp shooter. They are different skill sets.

Honestly sarx I don't think much hard searching was done at first. The family was begging for help and I know yesterday I was mapping the best I could and it was quickly jumping around from the parking lot to the Cabana apts to another area. (I'll go back and look)

But I agree as far as the tree cover especially this time of year, if they did a cursory fly over well hmfff. Gainesville does have a rep for a College town and I wonder if it was just swept under the rug at first? This is definitely getting a lot more attention today, just hope it's not "too little too late"

IMO the family needs to call texasequusearch or some other organization to help. A family member needs to request that though. gatorgirl it may be worth passing along this info to the g/f via fb. can't hurt. I know they have many members in Fl. and to add the have resources beyond belief.

Yes, there is an SAR group helping there.

Also, here is a story written by one of my former classmates. She got some really good audio. You guys might want to hear this one.

This is one of those cases that he literally could be leaning against the back side of a dumpster within a mile and just hasn't been spotted yet. It certainly wouldn't be the first time.
It's hard to know for sure where to search though, when you don't have a definitive PLS (place last seen). Hopefully they're getting info. from cell records that will help. In the meantime I would hope that video surveillance in the areas in question are being pulled and would probably be running two search grids at the same time. One around the Best Buy and one around the Bike shop. It's amazing where the injured can stumble to.

Well sandman is calling with a little help from a good cab and a late night last night watching NFL and horrible refs.

This young man and his family have a place in my dreams tonight and hopefully he will be found alive tomorrow. Peace be with you and yours

I am wondering why the so-called hitch-hiker was brought up (in the media? I don't remember where right now)..... And now we are not hearing anything else about it.

It may have to do with the "missing" blue blazer... And I have some ideas... But they are all just that... Ideas.

"Picked up a hitch hiker sounds like a story someone guilty may have planted to take the heat of themselves"..jmo of course
