GUILTY FL - Christina McIntyre for attempted murder of infant, Titusville, 2009

  • #21
October 2009:

Titusville police said Mcintyre tried to smother the child earlier this month, even using the baby's 2-year-old brother for added weight, but changed her mind and called 911 for help...

About a week later, on Oct. 15, the state Department of Children and Families reported Mcintyre to police, claiming that during tests for apnea at several hospitals in Central Florida, doctors determined the child was fine and his mother was the cause of breathing problems or fabricated them.

In one procedure that was being videotaped, police said, Mcintyre interfered with the tests and then reported an apnea episode..

Police said Mcintyre also admitted she exaggerated and fabricated the apnea incidents to doctors and hospitals as a cover for his breathing difficulties. She said she was afraid her children would be taken away, police said.

Medical records show he had four doctor appointments and three hospitalizations since Sept. 21 regarding apnea, police said. He also had numerous invasive tests, which prosecutors say amounted to aggravated child abuse.

The 911 call at link:

The 911 dispatcher tried to tell the mother how to perform CPR. Christina McIntyre pretended to give the child CPR, but later told detectives it was all an act...

Detectives figured all of this out because McIntyre spent the last few weeks going to area hospitals trying to convince doctors her son had breathing problem.

Doctors became suspicious and called police.

In an even stranger twist, late Friday Eyewitness News learned there was another issue with the children.

The Department of Children and Families removed them last week before McIntyre was arrested based on a separate child abuse investigation.

She was found guilty of one count of child abuse with great harm and sentenced to 7 years, and another count of the same with a 5 year probation sentence. Must have been a plea bargain, because she was originally charged with attempted 2nd degree murder and all sorts.

But she seems to have just been released, after serving only 4 years in prison. I sure hope she doesn't have any more children :( I think she may have Munchausens by Proxy or something similar.

Doc number E25894.
