As you probably already know, Julie Doe's NamUs profile was taken down on Friday. The Open and Resolved cases for Florida stayed the same, which is unusual, even for hidden profiles. That changed today, when the Open Cases went down with one case, which coincided with her profile becoming unavailable on https://namus.nij.ojp.gov/ where it was still up until today.

A number of transgender/gender variant Missing Persons profiles were also removed from public view on Friday. This is a message from NamUs regarding this situation:

The Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs is currently reviewing its websites and materials in accordance with recent Executive Orders and related guidance. During this review, some pages and publications will be unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

And a message from Trans Doe Taskforce:

I really hope Julie's case has been solved and that she's going home. Otherwise, I would be really p*ssed off if her case was removed because of those executive orders that belong in the toilet.

I really don't think her case has been solved. The Resolved cases for Florida didn't change this whole time, and the majority of the cases affected by this were still available in the other platform as was hers until today. Not sure what changed today, though. I really really hoped she had been identified too. :(

I don’t understand, so all profiles for transgender individuals were removed from Namus? That’s so crazy!!!

Im assuming once they wipe all mention of their gender identity from the case file, theyll put it back up

This is a truly appalling turn of events. Even if the trans/GNC Does are restored, they'll be missing vital info that can help search for them, as well as denying them dignity even in death.

I hope there's a way we can pick up the slack to help give Julie and other trans Does what they deserve

Extremely frustrating. This does nothing for the public, especially not the loved ones of missing persons.

As there are so many people who read these thread, just wanted to remind that the DDP identified the family names of interest:

Family names of interest: Anaya, Thornton, Robinson, and Hurt. She has familial ties in the Southeastern US, including the state of Kentucky (counties of interest Fayette, Garrad, Madison and Mercer)

This seems positive to me. In the most respectful way possible, I think the NamUs entries should give clear descriptive characteristics so the unidentified can get their names back. Once they are identified, the profile can be removed and they can be buried as they wished to be known in life.
