FL FL - Constantine George Theoharis, 52, Fort Lauderdale, 20 Mar 2018

It would be a long distance call for me as I‘m in Europe. Anyone?

I'm not able to call either. Hoping someone has already called it in. :tyou:

He obviously did go paddle boarding (they got him on surveillance video). His younger brother says he’s stressed out from family matters. The same day he disappeared he was supposed to appear in court for a child support hearing. Some friends say he might be hiding.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Fort Lauderdale police are searching for a man who went missing last week while on a paddle board in the Atlantic Ocean.

Police said Constantine "Con" Theoharis, 52, was last seen Tuesday morning on a blue paddleboard traveling north near the 3000 block of North Atlantic Boulevard.

John Katsikas, Theoharis' uncle, said Theoharis works as a commercial real estate agent and is an accomplished diver.

“No stranger to the water. He’s lived here on the beach his entire life,” Katsikas said.

A neighbor's security video home shows Theoharis heading toward the beach around 7:30 a.m. with the paddleboard and diving equipment. Katsikas said Theoharis left his wallet and passport behind, and said police have not found the paddle board or the diving equipment.

Richard Theoharis said his brother is no stranger to the water, adding that it’s not unusual for him to go out into the ocean by himself.

"This is my older brother, and he’s a very avid diver. He knows what he’s doing out there," Richard Theoharis said. "He'll take off by himself on the paddle board or just swim from the beach and go out to the third reef."

However, some people close to Theoharis believe he may be in hiding.

On the same day that the father of two mysteriously disappeared, family court records in Broward County show that he was supposed to appear in court for a child support hearing.

"If he's somewhere out there scared. Please just let someone know. Please let someone know so we can rest at night," Richard Theoharis said.

Anyone with information about Theoharis is asked to contact Detective Juan Cabrera at 954-828-5581.

Very interesting...

How awful for his kids if he not only disappeared, but ducked out it because of having to pay child support. It's a shame people would go on record saying he may be hiding because of it. But if that's the case, he must have been somewhat disgruntled about it and talking to people about it if they're saying it's something he'd go into hiding over.

I hope that's not the case, but it's better than him being harmed or non voluntarily missing. :(

The figure paddleboarding in the video is so far away and the image is small and grainy. It could be anyone out there... I guess they are assuming it's him because his paddleboard is not at home?

Mystery grows as man who owed $500K in child support disappears on a paddle board
http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/broward/article207090079.html
Constantine George Theoharis took off on his paddle board into the Atlantic off Fort Lauderdale a week ago, police believe.

Normally, this would not be remarkable given Theoharis’ ease and familiarity on the water, his family says. However, on that day, March 20, the licensed diver was due in court to speak to charges of not paying more than half a million dollars in child support, Fort Lauderdale police say.

Woah. How does someone owe that much back child support?? That’s a lot of money.

Shades of John Beck? This guy appears to have had more than half a million reasons to voluntarily disappear. I'm sure they are looking into the status of his bank accounts and assets. If he were to voluntarily disappear, he probably already had a new identity ready for himself so no need for his drivers license.

According to his facebook linked above, it seems like he got married two years ago but the kids in the picture from two years ago are older than 2yo.

So is this from a previous marriage I'm guessing?

His attorney is probably thinking WTH?!?! I think the only way for him to get that behind is a great attorney and avoiding producing financial documents. I bet he's hid a lot of info on his finances and it most likely caught up with him. He could be anywhere by now. I don't really consider him missing. He is in hiding for personal gain...

From newer article:
Theoharis’ nickname is “Con,” presumably a shortened version of his first name. He is a divorced father of two sons, ages 14 and 17. His ex-wife Stacy Theoharis is suing him for unpaid child support, her attorney, Terrence O’Connor, said Wednesday

Daily Mail article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...00K-child-support-disappears-paddleboard.html

[...]

Theoharis' brother, Richard, says the family has no idea what happened to him - whether he drowned or fled the country.

'Right now, I’m like 50-50, either he fled or he’s out there drowned, I don’t know,' Richard told NBC Miami.

'For nobody to find the board, for him not to come back, his wallet, keys were there at the house, something's fishy.'

It appears that Theoharis may have gone out to dive at the reefs behind his home since his fins, mask and weight belt were missing from his dive bag.

[...]

Richard says his brother is an experienced paddle-boarder and swimmer who knows the Atlantic well, living on the beach most of his life.

'He’s very capable on the paddle board so it seems fishy to me,' Richard told CBS4.

'He was under pressure. He owed $500,000 and he didn’t have it. He was afraid the judge would throw him in jail.'

500k! Wow. He must have really let it lapse. Something like that, you can't just let it go. There are always ways to go to court and make arrangements to pay SOMETHING.

However, he must have been making a fair chunk of $ though as child support is based off of income. But even at 2k a month per kid that's 4k a month and 48k a year - and if he's behind 10 years that puts him at almost 500k. Yikes. Then again, you'd think they'd go after him well before not paying for 10 years.

How long has he been divorced? I'm only guessing the time frame.

10K per month, it says here: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/b...e-paddleboard-man-missing-20180328-story.html
O’Connor, the attorney, said he filed a motion in December, 2017 on behalf of Stacy Theoharis seeking $549,351, which he said her ex-husband owes. That figure does not include interest.

Theoharis also has not paid an estimated $30,000 in child support for the first three months of 2018, the lawyer said.

Is he still with his "Exuma" wife? According to his FB, it seems like he remarried after the ex wife.

I guess Exuma is an island of the Bahamas.

Maybe he's hiding out there?

Before vanishing on paddleboard, man who owed $500,000 in child support had 'flamboyant and expensive lifestyle'

Interesting, so we know the following
- They divorce in 2008
- He could have his kids 2 weekends a month, spilt holidays, and partially summers.
- Stopped paying child support after Aug. 6, 2014

It's interesting that he stopped paying child support after 2014, when his FB in 2015 says he married an Exuma woman who apparently has two young kids that I assume are not his.

It's also interesting, some of his family are worried about sea accident while other seem to think he could have fled while others think he was suicidal, but others don't think so.
