Murder trial was set to begin on 7/22/24 for jury selection & continued due to Federal trial starting first. Federal trial was set to begin on 7/1/24 continued on 1/8/25 & was cancelled. Will let murder charges proceed first.

1/30/26 Update: The trial for Wiggins has been postponed again. Defense attorneys cited scheduling conflicts with other death penalty cases as the reason for the delay. For a third time, the trial date has been set for Wiggins, who is facing three counts of first-degree murder in the 2020 killings of three men in Frostproof. The judge had little choice but to move the trial to the fall at a five-minute status hearing Jan. 30 when he ruled on a defense motion to continue the trial again. At a hearing earlier in January, the defense told Circuit Judge J. Kevin Abdoney that recently obtained evidence would take too long to process in time for a February trial because of scheduling conflicts. Wiggins’ defense team has been assigned to two additional death penalty cases, limiting the time the defense needed to prepare for Wiggins' capital case, defense attorney Debra Tuomey explained. On Jan. 30, the Wiggins trial was moved from 2/23/26 to 9/8/26 with jury selection to begin that day at 8am. The trial is scheduled to last five weeks. Well - for one thing the DA is seeking DP & he probably waived his "speedy trial". That is just a guess.
