*Tony Lee J. “TJ” Wiggins, Jr. (26/now 31) aka John L. Wiggins arrested (7/21/20) &
charged (7/23/20) & indicted (9/30/20) with 3 counts of 1st degree capital murder, tampering with evidence (F3), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (F-2) & possession of ammunition by a convicted felon (F-2). Plead not guilty. Held without bond. DA will seek DP. In custody of Federal Agency. On 3/28/25 was transferred to Polk County. Polk County
Murder trial was set to begin on 7/22/24 for jury selection & continued due to Federal trial starting first. Federal trial was set to begin on 7/1/24 continued on 1/8/25 & was cancelled. Will let murder proceed first.
Murder trial is set to being on 2/23/26.

5/16/25 Update: Wiggins accused of gunning down three men by a lake in Frostproof in 2020, will face trial starting 2/23/26. The trial date was set during a status hearing on May 16. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty if Wiggins is found guilty of the first-degree murder charges. Next various motions hearing on 6/5/25 @ 11:45am.

charged (3/14/20) & arraigned (6/5/20) with 2nd degree aggravated battery (person uses a deadly weapon) & 3rd degree aggravated assault (deadly weapon w/o intent to kill). Plead not guilty. Bond $6K. Bonded out on 3/16/20. Bond was cancelled (7/22/20). Polk County

*Mary Clare Whittemore (27/now 31) – Plead guilty to a plea deal. Received a 4 year (1,461) prison sentence. Credit for time served 1,415 days. Left to serve as of 6/14/24 was 46 days. Released on 10/2/24.
*William Robert Wiggins (21/now 26) – Plead guilty to a plea deal. Will only serve 5 years in prison & 2 years probation. Will testify against TJ. Disposition adjudication withheld.
