State Attorney Georgia Cappleman is questioning Magbanua now. #MarkelMurderTrialWTXL @abc27

Jada E. Williams‏ @JadaEWilliams 51m51 minutes ago
Magbanua says the deep sea fishing comment that Adelson made regarding Garcia was a joke. #MarkelMurderTrialWTXL @abc27

Magbanua says Charlie Adelson was always taking about the cops. #MarkelMurderTrialWTXL @abc27

Cappleman is going rapid fire with her. Asking about the wiretaps, gifts from Charlie Adelson, was she involved?

Karl Etters‏Verified account @KarlEtters 31m31 minutes ago
Cappleman: "Why did he put you on the payroll? As payment for the murder? To keep you happy?"
Magbanua: "Why wouldn’t he just pay me the cash"
Cappleman: "I'm going to ask the questions here. OK?"

Jada E. Williams‏ @JadaEWilliams 31m31 minutes ago
"What makes you so special that Charlie Adelson would give you so much stuff?"- Georgia Cappleman #MarkelMurderTrialWTXL @abc27

Jada E. Williams‏ @JadaEWilliams 30m30 minutes ago
"I'm going to ask the questions here."- Georgia Cappleman after Katherine Magbanua answered her question with a question. #MarkelMurderTrialWTXL @abc27

Jada E. Williams‏ @JadaEWilliams 30m30 minutes ago
Magbanua says she was Charlie Adelson's personal assistant. #MarkelMurderTrialWTXL @abc27

Cappleman is done. That was blistering

Karl Etters‏Verified account @KarlEtters 4m4 minutes ago
By that I mean quick questions filled with implications of when Garcia told her he was involved, why she would help Charlie Adelson and intentionally confusing brain teasers to see what Magbanua would say

Jada E. Williams‏ @JadaEWilliams 18m18 minutes ago
A lot of confused facial expressions coming from Magbanua's attorneys during the state's cross examination. #MarkelMurderTrialWTXL @abc27

I think it's obvious that the prosecution has quite a bit of information that they did not share during this trial. 1 maybe phone events, they may not have a substance of such, but if they can say that both phones had a phone event at the same exact time, that could be considered those two phones may possibly have been in communication?

They are definitely bringing a lot of things in that we have never heard before, at least I have never heard before. She is claiming ignorance but to me I'm leaning that the prosecution has such.
That's what happens when a defendant takes the stand. New doors open for the Prosecution. One of the reasons defense lawyers normally do not recommend it.

So state is basically arguing that she's holding out because she's been promised a ton of money and she believes she's going to be acquitted. She's going to faint when she hears the guilty verdict. She's going to lose her mind in the courtroom, I'm betting.

They should get some waterproof mats to put under her.

Especially a defendant who is guilty as sin. She did herself no favors, negatively favors really, testifying.

Wonder what kinda questions jury is going to have for her? That should be illuminating.

Basically, do not, do not, do not take the stand unless you're innocent. Even then you may not want to take the stand because a good prosecutor can still make you look guilty. Being on that stand is nerve-wrecking even for experts who testify all the time. You can fumble, and your nervousness can make you look sketchy. If you're not that bright, definitely do not take the stand. I mean, these prosecutors do this every day!! Don't ever think you can outsmart them. Bad bad call!

Does the State get a recross after this?

In that tape about "work" CA sounded sarcastic when he said "you're doing such a good job." I don't think this helps KM to play it. JMO.

Katie Magbanua has been doing a generally decent job of keeping her story (stories) straight in her #DanMarkel trial testimony - but I think she stumbled in response to the question about meeting Luis Rivera for the money drop (she seemed to admit it).

wow Professor being Dan. This is being horrifying - why isn't this presented in evidence?
Oh my. I never heard before that she allegedly showed her bare breasts before and said “these are courtesy of the professor”. If she did this ...oh my - HORRIBLE. I’m surprised Kawass didn’t object. Hmmmm.

I wonder who she said this to, when, and where. And why it wasn't allowed in?

  • #213
Yep. She should have said "money drop? What money drop?"
David Lat is not a good commentator IMO - he was the one perpetuating the Wendi is innocent BS.

  • #214
I can't believe they are actually playing what sounds like complete BS. OMG, lol

Maybe a jail house snitch? Agree with you even though credibility is always at question. Very damning!

GC: "Did you talk to Luis Rivera on the day of the money drop?"

KM: "Did I talk to him? I believe he called me. Yeah, he called my phone."

And a latex jumpsuit for WA in my opinion.
