Had some free time of late and been thinking a lot about this case. In my opinion, they killed Danny because he was going to move to NY to be with Amy and there was a good shot he would be able to take the kids. When testifying, Wendi explained that Danny was never going to stay in Tally. Perhaps he had something on Wendi/her family which he thought he could leverage to get full custody. For example, drug dealing from the practice. I'm the daughter of a dentist. Dentists can do very well. But I think 2 million/year for a general dentist is VERY high. In order to do that well you'd need to have various associates and multiple practices.

BBM: Wow this is new to me. I didn't think he would move out of Tally. You think the 2 million a year might have included their many property investments?

@Gardenista - can you access Leon County? If so, can you see if the 4/21 hearing has been reset to another date? TIA! :)
Too lazy to look back & see if you can...

In her testimony she stated Tally was never a long term plan for Danny. He would move to a more prestigious university.

Not sure about Dan getting full custody, maybe tho. Who knows? We do know that the marriage was consumed by competition (maybe one side more than the other). Hostile and competitive - over time with the kids, accolades and the dividing of friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. They were both openly campaigning post-divorce per what's available to the public. So, it's two exes in a bitter battle regarding basically, everything. Who was winning at the time of the murder?

Possibly in the near future with split custody, the kids could be bouncing back and forth between very different worlds. Which life has a more prestigious "appearance"?

1) weekends on Uncle Charlie's jet ski, hot tub bravado and brunching at the Yardbird; OR
2) weekends in the Hamptons and croissants at Balthazar

You tell me how you think that scenario would go down with the A's. Compare WA and AA's resumes and tell me how you think certain egos were truly swallowing the comparison. Think about it.

Of course, this is just my theory and something I think may factor into all of this.

I think it is VERY important to view Wendi's testimony with many grains of salt .... grains the size of Abrams tanks. She lied, under oath, dozens of times about everything from trivial things (not knowing how to spell the diminutive name she called Dan) to major things. For example, she testified that she was "relieved" when the courts ruled WITH PREJUDICE that she could NOT move to South Florida, despite that being her number one goal, and something she had poured massive efforts and money into attempting to achieve. It is in this view that her comments about Dan's "plan" or "desire" to leave Tallahassee should be viewed with extreme skepticism. By all accounts, he was very happy where he was for the foreseeable future. She was the very opposite of pleased to be in Tallahassee. (Queue another parallel here to Gone Girl, where Amy's character felt stifled and resentful about living beneath her status in a smaller town ....) Her goal in answering that question was to suggest to the jury that SHE liked their small town, but that HE thought he was too good for it. It was utter, manipulative, see-through crap.

That said ... your speculation that Dan had things on the family that he could use against them is entirely on point. From what I've read, there are things that he had on Wendi directly that could have gotten her disbarred ... and that's just for starters. So, yeah, I think it's fair to say that the timing of the murder was not inconvenient for the Adelsons avoiding many outcomes that they would have found unfavorable, if not downright "..... unpleasant ...."

Anyone know IF the Case Management hearing happened on 3/17?

I can't access the Leon court site - maybe I'll have to tag " @SeesSeas ..... :)

Next hearing I have is on 4/9 and trial to start 4/13.
Most of our hearings are telephone now - I think this will be rescheduled and it looks like it’s cancelled and no one has updated the public docket that I’m finding

I fell out of the loop after following this from the beginning and I watched all of the court proceedings. Would someone tell me what the next trials are for? And for whom? Has there been anything new on prosecuting Wendi or anyone in her family? Thank you.

POIs: Wendi Adelson (ex-wife of Markel), her bro Charlie, mom Donna Sue Adelson (68) & father Harvey Adelson. Investigators have not charged anyone in the Adelson family in connection with Markel’s death, but say Adelson’s mother and brother – Donna and Charlie Adelson – paid $100,000 to have Markel killed following the couple’s contentious divorce so their two young sons could move to South Florida.
