Really quiet here. So I'll just throw something out. It looks like Katie was the big "winner" so far here. Of the $100,000 jackpot, she got about $27K after the Rivera/Garcia split. Then a car, b**bs, paychecks and no doubt more. She may be approaching $100k. It won't happen but, I would not be upset if the death penalty was on the table. She has continuously lied and obviously shown no contriteness. What will be her sentence if she is convicted and doesn't take a plea?

Her sentence will depend upon what she is convicted of. She is currently being tried on charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and solicitation of first-degree murder. She could face life in prison, if convicted of first-degree murder.

No. Several recent tweets indicate that morning session just broke (~1 PM). Afternoon session is scheduled to begin at 2 PM. So Tallahassee Democrat must have decided to yank the live feed for some reason.

No one knows any of the attorneys or the defendant. That's always good. They're now reading the names of people involved in the case/ witnesses to see if any of these jurors know them.

Wendi Adelson, #DanMarkel's ex-wife, has filed a motion to not testify as a defense witness. She will testify for the prosecution, with immunity. No immunity from the defense. Therefore, she'll just plead the fifth if they call her. Cross-examination still works.

*Trial begins (Day 1) (@ 8:30am ET) - FL – Daniel Eric Markel (41) (shot to death July 18, 2014, Tallahassee) - *Katherine Magbanua (32/now 37) (Garcia's wife) arrested (Oct. 2016) & charged with 1st degree murder & 1 count conspiracy & 1 count solicitation of murder were brought together into one case on Tuesday (3/20/18). Plead not guilty. Held without bond.
Murder for Hire hit man. They split a $100K payoff for murder. KM has rejected several offers of immunity for her testimony.
First trial started on 9/23/19 & the jury started deliberations on 10/10-10/11/19 with a total of 11 hours of deliberations. They found Garcia guilty. A mistrial declared for Magbanua. (10-2 for guilty). Will remain in jail as a charged co-conspirator & the State will try her case again.
Re-Trial began on 5/16/22 with jury selection. 12 jurors & 2 alternates (7 women & 7 men). Trial begins on 5/18/22. (should last 3 weeks).

Another batch was brought in & as of 4:45pm, the legal teams were still deciding which jurors would remain. But by 5:30pm, final jurors were selected. Seven men, seven women selected.

If Katherine wasn’t involved at all, then how did SG get all the details to kill Dan? There are no emails, phone calls, texts or anything linking CA and SG are there? KM is the link. I listened to a podcast last night where a juror spoke about what hung the jury the first go-around. She said a juror was stuck on the fact that they could not find cell phone records or pings after the murder that indicated KM and CA did the money transfer. I found this so strange.

Interesting. Could they call him by zoom?
On the Florida Department of Corrections website he’s still listed at being at Holmes Correctional Institute so he hasn’t been transferred out to testify in person at least.
