Let me get this straight -- a lilly-white dentist from the upper-crust of Miami fearfully pleads to a very angry, dangerous, gang-affiliated, much larger Hispanic dude from the 'hood with a track-record of violence who he is cuckolding, and convinces him that he'll stop screwing his wife and give him $$ if he kills someone for him, and the deal is done on the spot. So convincing was the dentist, that the cuckolded gang guy starts driving north fully expecting all will become right in his world once the murder is done.

How does is help CA? I thought it seemed like they are throwing him under the bus and obliquely giving him up as the prosecution has wanted. I think they are giving him up and SG will support it to get KM off to go home to the kids. But I don't think it will work.

1. Anything that helps KM ultimately helps CA. CA wants KM acquitted.
2. Kawass and DeCoste know that anything bad they allege about CA in KM's trial means absolutely nothing in any future CA trial. Nothing they say affects CA in a future CA trial.

Agree. I couldn't wrap my brain around their theory of why CA and SG would do a direct deal. Made no sense. Not in the real world. JMO.

IMO - this is one of the reasons Kawass and DeCoste were so afraid of CA being tried in same trial as KM. when there was a threat of that they suddenly stopped all delays and pushed for KM's trial to start!

Thursday, May 19th:
*Trial continues (Day 2) (@ 8:30am ET) - FL – Daniel Eric Markel (41) (shot to death July 18, 2014, Tallahassee) - *Katherine Magbanua (32/now 37) (Garcia's wife) arrested (Oct. 2016) & charged with 1st degree murder & 1 count conspiracy & 1 count solicitation of murder were brought together into one case on Tuesday (3/20/18). Plead not guilty. Held without bond.
Murder for Hire hit man. They split a $100K payoff for murder. KM has rejected several offers of immunity for her testimony.
First trial started on 9/23/19 & the jury started deliberations on 10/10-10/11/19 with a total of 11 hours of deliberations. They found Garcia guilty. A mistrial declared for Magbanua. (10-2 for guilty). Will remain in jail as a charged co-conspirator & the State will try her case again.
Re-Trial began on 5/16/22 with jury selection. 12 jurors & 2 alternates (7 women & 7 men). Trial began on 5/18/22. (should last 2-3 weeks).

State witnesses: Jim Geiger, was Markel's neighbor & a saw the Prius the hitmen were driving. David Sims. He's a retired Tallahassee police officer first on scene. Joanne Maltese, a forensic specialist with TPD. Dr. Anthony J. Clark, an associate medical examiner here in Tallahassee. His job is to do death investigations (autopsy work).

State witnesses: Brock Dietz, a detective that worked on forensic video analysis; specifically analysis of videos related to the moments before Markel's death. Former TPD investigator Craig Isom, was on this case from the start but has since retired from law enforcement.

*Charles Jay Adelson (45) – First appearance & bond hearing on 4/26/22. 4/26/22: Bond denied. Defense attorney asks for an Arthur hearing. No further info or dates yet as 5/15/22.
*Sigfredo Garcia (34) – 10/10/19: found guilty of 1st degree murder. Guilty of conspiracy. Not guilty of solicitation. Sentenced to LWOP for murder plus 30 years for conspiracy charge. 11/4/19: Motion to Withdraw as Counsel: Mauricio Padilla; Motion to Withdraw as Counsel: Saam Zangeneh.
*Luis Rivera (33) charged with 1st degree murder. Took a plea deal (Oct. 2016) & plead guilty to 2nd degree murder. Will testify against Garcia & Magbanua. Will receive 19-year sentence to run concurrently with his 12 year Federal time, which he is already serving.
POIs: Wendi Adelson (ex-wife of Markel), her mom Donna Sue Adelson (68) & father Harvey Adelson. Investigators have not charged any of these people in the Adelson family in connection with Markel’s death, except Charlie; but say Adelson’s mother & brother – Donna & Charlie Adelson – paid $100K to have Markel killed following the couple’s contentious divorce so their two young sons could move to South Florida.

Det. Isom says that he told Wendi that Dan was shot and unlikely to survive 6:59:00 First day of trial of KM Mark II. DeCoste establishes with Isom that that there is no way that this information was available before 12:30 which is when SG called KM and the "I know " statement re DM was made.
Here's a question - Does anyone know if Wendi made a lot of calls to Dan about 11 - 11:30 am that day and they all went to voicemail on Dan's phone ? I have checked my very abbreviated trial transcript and can't find anything on that. Any help including references would be appreciated. It's clear what deCoste is going to tell the jury. - KM could not have said "I know he's dead " at the time of the call on the 18th , because there was no way for Wendi's message to her mother (which just said hurt real bad) could have filtered through.
