According to the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office, Schweitzer was possibly heading to Tampa or somewhere in Alachua County.

He was last seen driving a 2015, 4 door maroon-colored Ford Fiesta with dark tinted windows, a dent in the driver's side door and a hole in the hood. The license plate number is Florida tag CRCR94.

If you know where Schweitzer is, please call 352-463-3410 and ask for Investigative Sergeant Ponce.

Missing man identified as murder victim near Micanopy:

Forensic investigators have been able to, through the assistance of the Medical Examiner’s team, identify the body of the man found on County Road 234 in Micanopy yesterday as a missing 20 year old from Gilchrist County.

Daniel Schweitzer had been missing since February 3, 2019. While the manner and mechanism of his death are still part of the very active criminal investigation, evidence recovered indicates that he was killed.

Detectives have met with Danny’s family and are now continuing their efforts along with the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office to determine the series of events that led to his discovery.

Moving forward with this homicide investigation, we are asking anyone with information to share with detectives to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at (352) 367-4170. Officials say former Frostproof man murdered in Alachua County

“During the course of the examination, we discovered information to fairly quickly make a clinical assessment that he was killed and this was not a natural death,” Rhodenizer said.

Rhodenizer said Schweitzer had been missing since Feb. 3. Citing an open investigation, he did not disclose the manner in which he was killed.

A Sheriff’s Office post on Facebook said investigators had met with Schweitzer’s family and are now continuing their efforts alongside the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office to determine the events that led to his death.

His identity was discovered less than two days after a pedestrian found his decomposing remains under palm tree fronds off a roadway in Micanopy.

At about 3:30 p.m. Monday, Schweitzer was found near 17200 SE County Road 234, about a quarter-mile west of Ceremonial Fireworks.

from the link in @JerseyGirl post above:
According to the Sheriff's Office, metal fragments from a gunshot were discovered in Schweitzer's body. Two days after his body was found, detectives located the car he had been driving in a southwest Alachua County apartment complex.

Inside the car, investigators found a portable GPS, and they were able to download previous routes, the Sheriff's Office said. Roughly a month before Danny was reported missing, the GPS in his car took him to Buckner’s address.

...

Investigators determined that at 1:20 a.m. on the Monday after the Super Bowl, surveillance video captured Buckner and another person purchasing a blanket at a Walmart. The same blanket was found near Schweitzer's body.

According to the Sheriff's Office, blood was found on the wall and floor of Buckner's home.
