An active elderly couple were murdered in their apartment. Possibly related?

An elderly Deerfield Beach couple were brutally murdered before their daughter discovered their bodies in their second-story, peach-colored condo, a crime that worried neighbors and baffled their friends.

Like the Russos, Pichosky and Wise were said to be happy and active together. Hallandale Beach police are seeking the identity of a woman seen in the area before the couple were killed and jewelry went missing. The victims' family is offering a $51,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Whether the elders' homicides that happened on opposite corners of Broward County are related was not yet known.

From Snoopster's article above:

"He wore a lot of gold, chains and rings, even to the beach. Out of 324 units, they picked his?"

I bet it was the same killer, targeting old people for expensive jewelry. It may even be a man and woman team working together. The woman knocks at the door, then the man pushes in.

I too had problems with the timeline. Each newspaper says something different. After checking and re-checking, this is what I come up with.

Wednesday Jan 8th - neighbour sees Donny come home in morning from grocery shopping - couple then went to synagogue then onto Walmart in the evening.

Thursday, Jan 9th. They talk to relatives via Appletime at around 8:00 a.m
Couple to pick up friends by noon to go for lunch.
They did not arrive.
Woman seen walking beside townhouse and goes to the back at 10:53 am on the same day, Thursday.
Many calls made to townhome all day - no answer.
Neighbour with key goes to townhome (Thursday) at 6:30 pm opens front door picks up the newspaper from the front step walks in and discovers bodies and police came to scene Thursday evening.
All of it was on Thursday - the day before Wed. nothing unusual.

The newspaper (first article that \I read, said that the bodies were found Thursday, January 9th. That is incorrect. Thursday was January 10th. Wednesday is January 9th
Seems newspapers can't match up the days of the week with the dates.
I took their word for it - in my timeline.
So - they went to the synagogue on Wednesday, January 9th) and went to the WalMart that evening.
Their bodies were found Thursday, January 10th.
Below is the original article, and other articles also say that they were found on Thursday.
http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/2...n_toronto_to_pursue_snowbird_murder_case.html

I went directly to a calendar, and checked the day with the dates.

Some newspapers reported Friday, January 10th - which is wrong.
Sorry, if I added to the confusion.

It's the anniversary of the murders. They will probably announce an increase in reward money and give us some held back information. Hope it results in solving the case. These people need to be caught.

Update!!

"At a news conference Wednesday morning, Hallandale Beach police said the DNA profiles of two women were recovered from the crime scene. The DNA doesn't match anyone who would have had access to the home, nor has a match been found in the FBI's database.

"It's a very complex case," said police Chief Dwayne Flournoy. "You have a profile of two females inside of a double homicide. That in itself is unique ... It doesn't match typically what happens in homicide cases."

Last February, police released video from a neighbour's surveillance camera hoping to identify a woman seen walking to the rear of the couple's home, but Flournoy said the woman still has not been identified.

"We believe the identification of this female is critical and important to this case," he said."

" "Identification is critical and important to this case," he said.

Other clues in the case include an outer sole shoe impression investigators believe was introduced to the crime scene by a perpetrator.

Identified as an Adidas shoe, he said it is from a type last made in 2000, and is likely from a "Super Nov
a" model.

Last April, police said that the couple may have been killed in the course of a robbery because Wise's $16,000 platinum and diamond wedding ban was missing. Police hoped to find the unique ring, as it featured an unusual clasp mechanism that allowed Wise to remove it without having to slide it off her finger".

In his comments Wednesday, Flournoy reiterated that the ring is the only item investigators believe went missing after the couple were killed.

" Investigators believe it was "at least" two women who are responsible for the deaths of David "Donny" Pichosky, 71, and his wife, Rochelle Wise, 66, of Toronto, who were found asphyxiated in their Hallandale Beach winter home, police said on Wednesday.

During a press conference held two days before the one-year anniversary of the discovery of the two bodies, Hallandale Police Chief Dwayne Flournoy also announced that the reward in the case has been increased by six-thousand dollars to $57,000"

Hallandale Police Chief Dwayne Flournoy also announced that the reward in the case has been increased by six-thousand dollars to $57,000.

Also a new sketch of the woman seen walking near the crime scene.

"But we we have been able to do is have a forensic artist do a sketch of that female from the video surveillance," he said.

The sketch is being circulated in the hopes of turning up leads in the case.

I wonder if they had a cleaning lady?

They likely did, but doesn't appear as though she/they is/are suspects, as reported in today's news: " . . .The DNA doesn’t match anyone from the couple’s family or working staff, he said. . . ." High-lighting is mine.
