GUILTY FL - Dontrell Melvin, 5 mos, Hallandale Beach, July 2011

Just to bump up this case and refresh everyone on what we are dealing with here.

A summary of the report about conditions at Renee's (BS's mom) house. It appears that BS and her children were living there at the time. Here are some highlights from the caseworkers report after visiting the family (paraphrased to make it easier to summarize):
September 2012 -

______ (child's name omitted) and her siblings are really dirty and they smell. The odor is believed to be coming from the clothes and the children's bodies. The children take showers but do not have clean clothes to wear. All have an odor and hair is always unkempt and dirty. Caseworker brought new clothes to family

Last Wednesday ______ brought a pornographic magazine to school and also drew a very explicit picture of a male p*nis

There are 30 priors with this family.

At an unannounced visit the house had a bad smell and cpi advised mother to mop floor with a scented chemical.

There were children adjudicated in the past due to hazardous conditions.

It is on the report that Dontrell was not seen but it was just a casual notation.

Oddly, everyone on the report is listed as white, even the children who are clearly bi-racial.

The "Overall Safety Assessment", "Summary/Findings Implications" and "Recommended Disposition" are all the exact same paragraph, simply copied and pasted.

The report is full of conflicting info as to whether the kids are neglected or need further investigation.

This is a summary of the intake report on Dontrell, dated January 2013:

There are concerns for the children well-being. The mother is smoking marijuana in front of her children with another unknown drug in front of the children. A week before Christmas (2012) the mother had a newborn baby in the yard with her when she was smoking drugs. Mom verbally abuses the children. She calls them “mother******ers and b*tches”. She says things like “I’m going to knock the hell out of you, sit your a** down, and f*ck you” to the children. The mother constantly has men coming in and out of the home, smoking drugs and having sex. These incidents have been going on since 2012.

On 01/10/13 Judge granted the shelter for children ___ and ____ into Department protective custody. Mother is ordered supervised visits and dad is ordered no contact.

Date 10/??/13 – Dontrell has not been seen since 2011. Dontrell was with his father, but when father was asked about making Dontrell visible, he makes excuses. It is unknown where Dontrell is at this time or if he is alive. (oddly this exact paragraph was copied and pasted onto the end of the original paragraph. So the entire paragraph is actually just 3 sentences that have been repeated to make the paragraph appear to be longer than it is. I saw this in a previous report as well and it just strikes me as a worker who is lazy, uncaring and wants to plump up paperwork to make it look like they did more than they actually did. But as I looked over all of the reports a LOT of it is just the exact same sentences over and over again.)

That is SICKENING ! You should report that to the CPS of FL or the governor's office or something. This is not the first child to go falling through the cracks in FL in the last few years.

That's an excellent question.

Honestly I post here all the time and didn't know about this case until I saw this today.
