This is not at all the same thing. This is an obvious mental issue. Not like Bundy who murdered over and over again.
This woman had some kind of break. No one died, No one was seriously hurt thank goodness. So now while I believe she should not have custody of her kids, I believe she needs help to get right.

PPD and PPA are powerful and really shift who you are. I think that this could be a possibility here.

These were not babies. I shudder to think that courts will accept a PPD excuse (in this case, I absolutely see it as an excuse) for injuring and killing preschoolers and teenagers.

You make a point of mentioning they didn't die. And if they did? What then?

August 2015:

Her attorney James Purdy told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that Wilkerson should be released, saying he does not think she fits the qualification for continued mental health in-house treatment.
The three children involved in the incident are in state custody.

She gave birth to a son after her arrest, and her husband took custody of the child.

August 2015:

Ebony Wilkerson, who drove her three children into the Atlantic Ocean off Daytona Beach last year, is allowed to leave a psychiatric hospital, but she still cannot see her kids...

Wilkerson answered questions in court Monday afternoon, saying she understood she suffers from bipolar disorder, and that she needs to stay on medication that is keeping her in good mental health...

The judge ordered Wilkerson to be transferred from the state mental hospital to Lake Wales Medical Center, a transitional facility in Polk County that gives her a little more freedom, but will also make sure she takes her medication.
The judge also made it clear that Wilkerson cannot talk with her children, not even over the phone. She will be allowed to exchange letters with her kids through a therapist.

A South Carolina woman who drove her minivan with her children inside into the Atlantic Ocean in Florida five years ago has been allowed to return home to her family.

Volusia County Circuit Judge Raul Zambrano on Thursday allowed 38-year-old Ebony Wilkerson to leave Daytona Beach, where she'd been in jail or transitional care since March 4, 2014. The family lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Assistant Public Defender Jay Crocker said that Wilkerson will still be on medication and will see a mental health counselor in South Carolina. He says she's happy to return to her family.

I hope she's fully recovered and able to be a good mom to her kids.
