Press Release

Tampa Bay Area Doctor Charged With Producing Child Sexual Abuse Materials And Enticing Minors To Engage In Sexual Activity

Monday, January 6, 2025

For Immediate Release
U.S. Attorney's Office, Middle District of Florida
Tampa, FL –United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces the indictment and arrest of Stephen Andrew Leedy (59, St. Petersburg) on three counts of production of child sexual abuse material and two counts of coercing or enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity. If convicted on all counts, Leedy faces a maximum penalty of life in federal prison.

According to the indictment and court documents, Leedy, a palliative care doctor in the Tampa Bay area, utilized the username “maximumuncle#9112” to sexually exploit and victimize approximately ten minors online. In online conversations and video chats, Leedy instructed the minors to produce sexually explicit images of themselves and directed them to cut, choke, and hang themselves. In November 2021, Minor Victim 1 was discovered deceased, having hanged herself in front of her phone in a manner consistent with instructions Leedy had previously provided her.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Pasco Sheriff’s Office and the FBI – Tampa Office, with assistance from St. Petersburg Police Department, FBI – Atlanta Office, and the Holly Springs Police Department. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Abigail K. King and Ilyssa M. Spergel.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. Thank you.
The boys in blue sure were happy they got him, that little gumbuya they had was telling.
One of the officers had seen his red car and the rest is history.
There were at least 6 cars with lights on so these officers weren't fooling around.
His wife and mother-in-law were in the car.
Lynda Leedy his wife wasn't told by the officer what he was arrested for or that the FBI was on their way to take over.
So he was arrested on 12/19/24 and since then a sitting Grand Jury indicted him.

Stephen Leedy, 59, of St. Petersburg, is accused of coaching at least one of his minor victims to her death, with the 13-year-old being found “hanging from the shower head with a dog leash around her neck,” according to DOJ prosecutors.

“Can ur life be full with cutting your 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and tmmy for daddy, not eating and puking for daddy,” Leedy allegedly wrote in a message to the 13-year-old.

“Go get the belt so we can start choking u,” he allegedly said, before asking: “Have u ever put the end of the belt over the top of your door, and then close the door?”

"A Pasco County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson confirmed that agency investigated the juvenile’s death.

At this time, the death is considered accidental and is under investigation.

“During the investigation, there was concerning content located on the juvenile’s cell phone, and that information was provided to the FBI and DOJ for further investigation,” said a spokesperson in a statement.

Leedy’s former employee said she saw no warning signs.

“Not one single thing, always respectful to all of us. Fair boss,” said Deborah Kuhlman, a social worker who worked for Dr. Leedy at Gulfside Healthcare Services in Pasco County.

Kuhlman described Dr. Leedy as “charismatic” and said everyone liked him.

She said she is shocked by the allegations against him and feels horrible for the children and their families.

“I texted one of my friends and I said ‘I feel like I’m questioning everything I thought I knew to be true’ and especially with a doctor, somebody that you trust that you would think had the high moral ethic compass,” said Kuhlman.'

That poor baby.
Nothing was reported on what chat these kids were on and how they/he came together.
He never showed his face to them.

Needy was head of a Hospice group/organization which is also concerning due to afflictions and death being a part of it.
Are there unexpected untimely deaths in hospice?

That's seriously messed up. I reckon he will make that decision before he gets there which is a shame. He would be going to a place full of people who know how to deal with that type of thing and are more than willing. That would be better. Absolutely disgusting.

Make what decision?
I've read nothing if he has been in jail since his arrest on 12-19-24 when the FBI was on their way to him at the police station, according to what LE said when they had him in their car on the side of the highway.
It seems that local police were turning him over to the FBI and I assume that being the feds they decide?
Nothing either if he has appeared before a judge since Monday's indictment and if he did was he given bond.
I hope not.

L&C has some new info for the thread and addresses a pre-trial hearing about bond.
But there's no info on whether he got it or not.
The date they have is 12-17-24 but the video of Leedy being arrested is 12-19-24?

"In a Dec. 17 pretrial motion for detention viewed by Law&Crime, prosecutors outlined the disturbing allegations against Leedy, saying he was “an extreme danger to minors in society and his release from custody would be in direct conflict with maintaining community safety.” They described how the weight of the evidence against him “is extremely strong” and showed his alleged obsession with sexually exploiting minors and getting them to hurt themselves.'
