Nitpicker (or someone) can you please provide a link to the Wendi podcast you’re referring to? TIA

it’s broke up by ads and people chatting. Make sure you listen to all of it. Many people miss parts of it.

Wow -- CA tells his folks he thought he was getting out and gave away all his food/commissary! And his mom (DA) crying how she had everything ready for him...

Lol, yup, and he's REALLY salty about Georgia's closing. It's giving me a hankering to listen to it again lol

Eeek. The delusion with the group is so very deep. To hear him say that he thought this was going to be a trial of the facts and it was just a show -- Georgia's closing was all the TALLAHASSEE jury took to deliberations, Georgia's SHOW. Can't even call it a trial -- it was a show.

Unbelievable. I'm really sorry to know this mentality exists.

ETA: It just dawned on me -- who's going to be CA's business manager/personal assistance with DA in the pokey? She took care of all his call/commissary and had it down! Guess DA will have to train another to take over from inside her cozy quarters.

Right? The only one putting on a show was Charlie. He's the one that sat for a year and a half memorizing a script to try to pretend all of the evidence that they had against him fit into this crazy second layer bribery. He's the only one who tried to put in a show that no one was buying.

DA's hatred for all things Tallahassee has taken over any common sense she ever had. Her attempts to make the Leon County Jail sound like a torture chamber have back fired on her and her attorney both, making them look ignorant as to how jail processes work.
LOL, and "We are going to waive extradition to Leon County." 1:00 marker going back to DA & atty 1st court appearance -

Yes and somewhat explains how the same party could draft an Emergency Motion that was discredited in court when defense counsel had no clue what she was talking about. Should have requested her client's medical jail file!

Just started listening. OMG. Insufferable whining. I need to wait for a highlight reel.

Well, here are the highlights thus far:
DA says, "Dan did a great job and you spoke well."
CA says, "I just wanted to be a Dad."
HA says, "I know Charlie." (Please note he repeats those words often.)
Everything else is them insulting the jurors. Making light of WA's book and snidely saying the jurors looked like people who had not read a book in a year.
CA suddenly has no fear of the Latin Kings, never brings them up. Never decries his decision to pay thousands of dollars to the people who were extorting him. Never says, "Wow, not calling the police was the stupidest decision ever."
He still thinks he is smart and everyone else is confused, lying or dumb.
Wash,rinse, repeat.
Edited to add: Take a xanax and we'll rehash in the morning.

I infer that DA and HA watched the whole trial but could not manage to attend in person. Or they believed that attending would harm Charlie's chances. Which could be true, especially given DA's self-control problems.

It's so frustrating. They (the collective) never once lament their actions in the the murder of their son-in-law...only the outcome of CA's trial. Denial and entitlement is the air they breathe. It just hurts my heart to hear all the platitudes DA/HA ("We'll continue to fight." "I've always loved you." "Work through it." "Be strong." etc, etc, etc) are relaying/spewing to their newly convicted son while secretly making plane reservations for their flight to Viet Nam. Wow, just wow.

What's so crazy is that there sounds like there is a lot in that family, close bonds with CA and his parents, but what parent that loved their child would incite and encourage them to commit murder and risk spending the rest of their lives in prison? That's not love.

I'm gobsmacked they all thought CA was coming home. Unbelievable.

Good point. But she is talking to her son on the phone, so I still think she’s referring to Charlie and wanting to go to sleep so she no longer sees him. She says “frankly, yes,” in a tone that suggests to me that she really doesn’t want to see him, frankly. Of course, we don’t know whether this snippet was preceded by someone saying “what about Robert?”
I also think she's talking about Charlie because she has not seen him in the flesh since he was arrested in April 2022 but other than that, it's baffling to me.
- am i suicidal? No
- do I want to kill myself 'sleep ' (& not see my son?) Yes

I hope that those who have the tapes now, like Mentour Lawyer, run them thru some kind of AI transcription app like Otter because even though the results are never perfectly accurate, it's so much easier than trying to piece audio conversations together.

The audio was awful and unintelligible in many places. From what I could hear, I deduced that Wendy did not contact her parents on the day of the verdict or after the verdict nor did she go to see her parents in person. This upset them. They also seemed upset that Wendy has not once asked about her brother since his incarceration. In fact, Wendy told her parents that Charlie's problems are his own doing and that they need to stop projecting anger at her as she has nothing to do with his choices and it is not her fault that her truthful testimony with the police and at trial did not fare well for Charlie. It really sounded like Grandma and Grandpa feel they are not as needed by Wendy now that the kids are grown up and that she has distanced herself from them. In fact, it does not sound like she made herself available to them at all after the verdict although they wanted to talk to her about the extradition countries and wills, and cemetery plot and other "business" she would not call them back. Sounded like DA/HA were speaking to her through "George" -- they asked "George" about the boys and specifically if Wendy told the boys about Charlie's conviction. I have no idea who George is.

I heard somewhere that George is her boyfriend. Not sure if it’s true.

Where do they say all this? So far I’ve only heard Donna say that she wasn’t able to talk to Wendi after the verdict. Nothing else.

From what you say, it sounds To me like Wendi may believe that Charlie is solely Responsible for the crime? Where does Donna say this? If Wendi had a role at all, wouldn’t Donna know that?

If they planned the murder without Wendi’s OK, that would explain where they got the bizarre idea of self-hiring hitmen.

In my opinion, the evidence suggests to me that Wendi knew about the crime before it occurred.
