"Its not done like that" - CA the expert on extortion!

Go Karts. Charlie talks about Go Karts on the tapes.
So, he's had a murder committed and he's going go-karting. He's buying a go-kart. He's going "pro"!

Rash can‘t turn the go cart chat off fast enough.

He's been extorted before -- CA's lawyer claims. [Oh, haven't we all!]

No, apparently. The objection on that ground was sustained.

ETA : he’s an expert on extortion because of the prior extortion, which he is making up. (JMO)

"Copycat extortionists" would make a great band name. That's all I've got today. Geeze, what a disaster.

I so was hoping the jury was listening to that part

In order to believe this theory, you have to believe Charlie thought Katie was not behind thr killing, she just found out her friends did it after the fact. But you also have to believe that Katie confessed to being behind murder, but is lying. But you also have to know that Katie was convicted, and there was enough evidence to convict Katie of being involved in the murder. My head hurts. Why is Katie even in jail, if his theory is true? Why was there so much evidence against her?
not to mention this theory would require 3 people in federal prison who obviously no longer communicate aligning their stories to all make sense together. eye roll

I don’t think Rash will finish the direct today. There are a lot of tapes to get though. Hopefully cross will start tomorrow, but he might still have the weekend

That's criminal ... ordering a California Roll ... and he was rude!

So...one demand for money was tolerable and arrangements were made and there was no direct communication between the perpetrators (SG + RL)and the victim (CA). There was a cutout in place...KM. Additionally: CA never intended that any of his bluster or the prior communications with KM were going to lead to the death of DM; but he was fearful of the killers to the extent that he was willing to pay a lot of money to ensure that they would not kill him as well. And he trusted KM to keep him from harm and to be the channel for the payments...even after she indicated that the death of DM was a consequence of her stupidity and big mouth.
He trusts her again to identify the second round of extortionists and confirm that they were NOT LK...that led CA to conclude that the only other candidates for the 2nd extortionist was LE. And thus his mother should not pay, because paying would be an admission; whereas the fact that he had paid a large sum the night of DM's murder and continued paying for 22 months was consequence of his own fears...he was a victim.
Anyone want to buy a bridge?

And lest we forget: MOO, JMO and with sarcastic acuity

It is really hard to wrap your head around. Theres an internal contradiction in practically every question about calling the police or not. It’s like a house of cards, you have to believe one unbelievable thing which supports all the others. Repeatedly.

I think Harvey didn't know -- but WA did know. (Maybe?)

It must be really hard for Ruth to hear her grandchildren in the background of the recordings. They're her blood and she isn't the one who gets to put them to bed. Instead, it's the accused co-conspirators in her son's death putting them to bed.

I agree that to me it sounds from the tapes that they want Harvey to know as little as possible. But that’s after the bump. So who knows. Maybe they just don’t want him to know about the bump. MOO
