Oh 100% agree. Was going to mention I think she has zero street smarts but clearly book smart.I think she is book smart but lacks common sense/potentially some street smarts. That's the impression I get.

true romance is when your married gf puts you on a payment plan with a gang who killed your brother-in-law essentially becoming the world's first in-reverse hitmen <3 <3
it only took her 5 mins
Yes, very good cross.Did you watch Sara Duggan’s cross of Katie at her 2nd trial? A good cross keeps the witness in a corner and doesn’t allow him/her to slide out! JMO
This doesn’t mean I think Charlie was convincing.
Because I found his bizarre story so far fetched and made absolutely zero sense when you actually think about it (the Latin kings accepting a payment plan, HUH???).
It wasn’t bad, I was just expecting her to zing him good! There were a few good moments, but there were weak moments for sure. I just hope she convinced the jury he’s a liar after he got up there and did so well (even though his story is utter BUNK, narcissists have a way of convincing people they are genuine and telling the truth even when you KNOW deep in your heart they are lying.I just finished her cross - really don't think it was as bad as people are making it out to be? There were a few things I wish she had rehashed but overall I think it was fine.
We need to take into consideration that Charlie (and Wendi) are two individuals that are clearly above average intelligence that have had YEARS to memorize and rehearse their stories. Neither one is going to get super rattled or bothered on cross because of this.
I just don't see a world where the other prosecutor does any better. Think Georgia was the right choice for cross.
Jmo
It's just a bit of criticism, I like her otherwise - I just thought she'd do more. I can't put into words what I was thinking, but I was expecting a different exchange than the one they had.So if you thought her cross was unconvincing, did you find CA’s story convincing?

What was there for her to convince us of? I thought the less is more approach was best. Honestly think his own lawyer should have kept it to about 2-3hrs instead of having something for every little detail. By the end of the day ….way too much.
I don’t know. I watch way too many trials and I wouldn’t say hers was bad. Not great, by any means. But not bad.

Yes, agree, but even though Murdaugh is also a narcissist, up on the stand he was more of a bumbling one than Charlie was. The fake emotion and crying — it was so transparent. Charlie wasn’t like that and sadly there are people who will believe him. Not me!Alex Murdaugh is cut from the same narcissistic cloth as CA and where did his lies get him ? Hopefully, the jury tosses his nonsense when looking at the entire puzzle.
I commented on this a few days ago. She may have wanted the income to qualify for an Obamacare policy with a large subsidy (ie, ~90%), NOT Medicaid. If she she had just enough income to qualify for Obamacare, she would have been able to get a silver-level policy from a private insurance company with the maximum subsidy for her family size. If she didn't meet the income minimum she would have been forced to apply for Medicaid with less MD, hospital, specialist, etc. choice and more paperwork and red tape.
Not especially intelligent, but above average imo. I find myself comparing him to Katie. and BBM - yeah I dont trust anyone who'd get that close to someone like Katie.I don’t think Charlie is particularly intelligent. He can memorize the crap outta things, pass exams, get through dental school, but highly intelligent? No. He’s no Sir Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei, or even astrophysicist Sir Brian May (of Queen lol - had to get that in there after mentioning Galileo lol - where’s my guitar emoji??)
He’s skilled in manipulation, acting like an arrogant know it all, getting what he wants and dating dumb women - I’ll give him that.
I mean look at the people he surrounded himself with.
What’s that saying? “We are known by the company we keep.”
OOF. That's a doozy. Hope she's on trial next.“How many coincidences does it take for it to no longer be a coincidence?” “Remember what Donna said to June out on the balcony that day? She feels like Dan is haunting her from the grave. The weight of this thing is heavy on these people! The weight of this crime is inescapable and it is squarely on this defendant’s shoulders!” “The truth is the truth. The evidence is what it is.” – Georgia Cappleman - Dan Markel murder: Katherine Magbanua re-trial, Day 8 - Tallahassee Democrat
I am really confused about him "loving" Katie. Do y'all tend to think the relationship was one big set up to get to Garcia so he could off Dan, or was Charlie genuinely interested in her? They don't seem like a match to me, on any level. Dude is a rich dentist, entitled, doesn't take care of his own kid, why would he want a bottle girl with a gang member husband and 2 children.Yes, very good cross.
But also one of my points, KM does not come off as that smart. Charlie is above average intelligence. Way easier to trap KM than it would be to trap CA in a lie. He had that sh&t rehearsed like no other. I mean he literally quoted the exact date and time frame a phone call he referenced came from?
Agree. If Charlie was as frazzled as he'd like the jury to believe, he would've been liquidating assets like nobody's business.Respectfully snipped -
CA claims he gave CM all the cash he had. On what planet does anyone thing CA didn't have a lot more cash in the bank and locked up in investments. Point being, if he had agreed to pay 333K to have DM move to SFla, he could've likely afforded to pay the "extortion" crew the whole amount by liquidating some assets or going to the bank.
No payment plan required.
That's exactly how I felt. Charlie is a skilled liar. It's obvious his story is garbage, but I can see a weird likeable quality about him on the stand that I'm sure he's been practicing and honing with Rashbum or whatever his name is for forever. It wasn’t bad, I was just expecting her to zing him good! There were a few good moments, but there were weak moments for sure. I just hope she convinced the jury he’s a liar after he got up there and did so well (even though his story is utter BUNK, narcissists have a way of convincing people they are genuine and telling the truth even when you KNOW deep in your heart they are lying.
IMO no comparison between AM & CA. CA is a skilled liar and comes across with some sort of "charming" quality that clearly at least some people buy into.Yes, agree, but even though Murdaugh is also a narcissist, up on the stand he was more of a bumbling one than Charlie was. The fake emotion and crying — it was so transparent. Charlie wasn’t like that and sadly there are people who will believe him. Not me!
Wendi, miss valedictorian and went to law school, full academic scholarship. Graduated magna cu m laude if i remember correctly…. Isn’t…smart?
You guys know you don’t have to like someone to admit they’re above average intelligence?
Hmm KM has more street smarts than Charlie. She says as little as possible in all the wire taps while he gives himself away with his diarrhea of the mouth. She doesn’t call the bump number. He does, eventually. She minimizes her role and her strategy was to play dumb and innocent at trial, which was smart. It worked in the 1st trial.Yes, very good cross.

Well - Donna sent a text to Charlie, then deleted it, at this time. Harvey's bday fell in between the 2 trips. Charlie said, "Still working on dad's bday gift..." and she said, "I know you'll come through for us!" Idk, that pushes me in the direction of yes, it was the bday gift. CA is really downplaying on the stand how much he + his entire family discussed Dan, how they hated Dan, how Dan was ruining Wendi's life and he was her biggest mistake, how miserable Dan made Donna... As Dan's own mom put it, "There were 3 in that marriage from the beginning." As in Dan, Wendi, and Donna!I still feel like there is something missing about the celebration dinner! I KNOW Chuckles is guilty, but I wanted Georgia to pull out some evidence that murdering Dan was Harvey’s bday gift. I’m still on the fence about that one.

AM is a scary hulking tower of a dude who tries to use his fake soft spoken southern manners, money, and family history as a way to shield him from consequences his crimes. sucks at lying - just nobody thought to question him about anything in his life until it was WAYYYY too late. AM said the same exact thing on the stand with snot dripping all over his face and it was the weirdest thing I've seen in court in 10 years, it had an uncanny valley feel.
the only similarity here is greediness
KM has more street smarts in one finger than the entire Adelson family have combined. No argument there.Hmm KM has more street smarts than Charlie. His strategy is different at trial from KM’s. But he is also overcome by ego and wanted to best the prosecutor so he went over everything. He’s had nothing but time after all. He wanted to have an answer for everything. He wanted to control everything. This is not smart imo. He prob doesn’t listen to Rashbaum at all. Again, not smart. He’s overcome by his need to be the smartest person in the room, which is not smart. JMO
