BBM -

I don't see a reason for the State to offer a plea to DA unless she's willing to give up WA.
They were recordings of her talking to Charlie after his conviction and you can see that Donna was disappointed by Wendi "ghosting" Charlie and texting to Donna that she (Wendi) has nothing to do with Charlie's situation and where he's now.....I have a very strong feeling that Donna will give away Wendi very easily.....

When I heard him state that my heart sank!
That’s his job as an appellate attorney. If he thinks there’s an issue he can raise, he will raise it. Sometimes there is. Sometimes there isn’t.

It's hard to get inside the head of a psychopath. On the surface, it seems that the Adelsons have a lot of love and loyalty for one another, but how easily was Rob Adelson cast out from the family? I don't think DA will roll on WA, at this stage. she, like CA, is convinced she'll be found not guilty. I think if at some point she realises she's stuck in prison for the rest of her life she may decide to cooperate. I also think that she may want to try and save HA. He won't last 5 minutes in jail. He's struggling with his health, stress, anxiety etc He's not even sleeping well in his beautiful air-conditioned penthouse, imagine when he's stuck in a stinking hot jail cell.... So if HA is arrested, I think that will prompt DA to flip. But then she is going to want a non-custodial sentence or a very light sentence for both her and HA and she's not going to get that. Perhaps 10-15 for her and 5 for HA for giving up WA..

Edit:
DA also has this very toxic bond with her Grandkids, almost a weird obsession with them. It's not love or attachment, just a very strange relationship and she will be looking to protect them which may dissuade her from flipping on WA. I hope she has this realistion that she is never going to see or speak to her Grandkids again and neither will she see or speak to WA, CA or RA again.

Charles Adelson's Appellate Lawyer, Michael Ufferman Speaks

Ufferman's interview was such a great contrast to the tall tales being sold by Rashbaum. Ufferman is looking for error not innocence. This was an excellent selection for an appellate lawyer (unlike Rashbaum who was a horrendous novice to defend a murder 1 charge). Nonetheless, as Ufferman said, 90% of appeals end in the court affirming the trial decision. IMO unless there is a jury issue that we haven't yet learned about, I see a 0 chance that Charlie gets a new trial. this appeal is nothing more than a formality. Charlie's only hope was at the trial level.

@Marvin Berry - maybe you can find something in the court site? TIA! :)

This is real? So much here. “Live it up like it’s your last.” “Earliest Release Date: N/A.” “Education: High School.” I thought she went to college in Orlando? Did she not
graduate?

ETA

How do they have access to email? Even if it’s monitored, Isn’t that a lot more time and labor-intensive than opening up letters, given the sheer number of emails someone can send and receive in a day? Seems risky to me.
This bothers me so much.
Edited to add - I’m ok with it for prisoners who will be getting out as it’s fair to have access to technology but KM was convicted of murder… I wonder how much time they get on computers, etc…

Yes and we already know by her actions that she has no common sense. To think she could pull this grand plan of eliminating her ex son in law off without being caught clearly shows her ignorance and lack of common sense.

I don’t know how anyone thinks that they will never be caught with all of the technology we have today. Maybe people who harbour hate towards an individual are willing to take a risk. That’s not the case here. This bunch definitely thought they wouldn’t be caught so they weren’t thinking of it as a risk.
I still look back to the recorded conversation that DA had with CA after she was approached on the street by someone claiming to want money for their relative for their work. (It was on a recent Dateline episode on the case.) That discussion between DA & CA did not seem to be that of an innocent individual. And it sure did not appear to be that of someone that wasn’t analytical and could not readily discern what had just happened by that contact - and what might result going forward. MOO

I believe these days inmates are issued “pads”, but there is a unique prison system software. Charlie Adelson talks about his pad. They can buy magazine subscriptions, rent movies, send emails, get some college courses, borrow books, access law library, etc. They can also use it to make jail phone calls. CA made his calls to DA on his pad.

Personally, I would rather prisoners be occupied with curated items—as on these pads—than planning violent activities. Just sayin’.

These pads also acknowledge the human-ness of everyone—that they need a social context—no matter their sentences.

pads in prison are great babysitters, I bet the number of incidents have decreased since pad implementation.

Narcissists love kids when they are young because they can control them. Its evident Donna began resenting them growing up and having friends of their own. She was number one in their lives for much of their lives when their mother was climbing the social ladder.

The iPads came about after covid, right? For an introvert, being alone with an ipad is like being in heaven.
I am surprised they have access to so much.

I think it's great. Everything is curated (they could get things like magazine subscriptions mailed before), but it gives folks who've never had much exposure beyond a narrow world to things that are beyond their familiarity. I know people can get concerned about how computers can narrow your vision, but they can also greatly expand it.

I hope these pads also give prisoners access to a greater variety of educational paths. IMO many more could be taking college classes, and from a more expansive and (better) source. Some of these degrees I see them getting look pretty heinous right now (I'm horrified by Ohio's offerings, since the religious-affiliated college classes are pretty much all they get: you shouldn't have to read the bible or sit through sermons to get a degree IMO). Let people learn languages, high end math, basic calculator use, Japanese, Ottoman history, design principles, yoga. There are so many wasted minds in our prisons: develop them, if for no other reasons than it's the right thing to do for a human and to keep folks' minds of planning riots.

Abuse would be automatic exclusion--this would be TERRIBLE punishment. IIRC Kouri Richins got her pad confiscated after she held up secret notes in video visits.

Still 2/12/24 at 2:30pm for case management.
The only notable updates to the docket since 1/11 are the attached Answers to Demand for Discovery that list additional evidence provided to Donna's counsel by the State.
