Oh I agree. The better solution would have been to have a more timely trial. Which she might have had, if not for the antics of her lawyers during the first day of jury selection for her trial. Even I saw the conflict coming and I have zero legal education. To spare innocent persons from lengthy jail incarcerations is part of the reason for these rights for timely trials. And Usually people are not arrested without significant and persuasive evidence, which there is in her case.

I agree this is a harsh reality for an elderly woman.

I have no sympathy for DA. She deserves everything she is getting. She has been able to enjoy life for 10 years while DM has been in his grave.

I am appalled by DA’s experience as she awaits trial. In the US - you are presumed innocent. Even though I don’t believe DA is innocent - NO INMATE - BEFORE OR AFTER TRIAL - DESERVES TO BE SUBJECT TO INJURY BY ANOTHER INMATE!!! Release DA to house arrest with a lovely ankle bracelet. I truly believe her late, great son in law Dan Markel would even agree (then lock her up after conviction!).

The jail has determined that she lied about the attack. The attack happened months before DA reported it, the jail offered to move her her to another section of the jail, but she refused saying her attacker had moved there, but the jail had no record of anyone from DA's section being move to this other section. Additionally medical treatment was not required, so the injury, if there was one, was not serious.

Regardless, jails have systems in place to protect inmates from attacks, protective custody. So DA can choose.

House arrest for murder conspiracy, and especially when she's a known flight risk??? Don't think so!

Why? That runs contrary to order in the jail. What are they doing between 9:30 AM and the 9 hours later?

I realize that they have shifts but they are really screwing with the inmates circadian rhythms. I don’t say that out of feeling sorry for the inmates, they don’t deserve special treatment but it just goes against the grain of how humans are most productive.

The inmates are already difficult so it seems that they would want to avoid anything that could make it worse. Lunch at 9:30 AM and dinner 9 hours later is asking for trouble. Inmates get whatever they deserve but what I am saying is why do anything to increase their erratic behaviour?

Oh pleez, now Donna is on the stand saying that if she was arrested after going to Vietnam she would return voluntarily on her terms….really?….after going to a non extradition country?

What has really struck me about Donna’s testimony during bond hearings Wednesday is her demeanor and drama. We’ve seen her both in court and on Zoom, off and on recently for several weeks and she was demure, talking without effort, and physically able. Now we are seeing a woman needing help on and off the stand, short of breath, crying like a victim, and complaining of all the short comings in jail.

What a drama queen and lier! Not to mention, entitled!

Bet Dan would trade needing his ears cleaned over death. OMO.

I have no idea, but I know a lot of jails and prisons suffer from staff shortages and this can affect prisoners timetables. For instance some prisons are understaffed at weekends so prisoners are in lockdown, can't leave their cells. I would imagine there is some logical reason for the whacko timetable.

Her reasoning/excuse for choosing a non-extradition country is absurd IMHO. Did not buy one word of it. Nothing more than lies to cover up what she and her entitled husband were really trying to do, which is get the heck outta dodge before the arrest warrant(s) came down.
