Florida State University professor Dan Markel was found in his Tallahassee, Florida, home on Friday. Police say there were no signs of robbery or burglary and have yet to disclose any motive.
According to Tallahassee police, officers found Markel after a neighbor called 911 at about 11 a.m. with reports of a "loud bang."

Markel, 41, was rushed to a local hospital, where he died the following day. "While we cannot release specific information or details regarding this case, the Violent Crimes Unit is releasing that Mr. Markel's cause of death was a fatal gunshot wound to the head," Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo said in a statement.
By Monday, police had categorized the case as a homicide, and according to Tallahassee Police Department spokesman David Northway, Markel was the intended target.

Has anyone watched the video of DA being transported from Miami to Tallahassee? She was in a terrible state. I could only handle a couple of minutes!
There was a little bit play acting going on, but also I reckon she was having withdrawal symptoms. They were regular Xanax users and HA had prescribed anti=depressants and antipsychotic medication to WA so god knows what else DA was on. She did state to LE on her arrest, "what about all my meds??"

The part that caught my attention was being transported with no windows. That is an experience that none of us are accustomed to, especially for such a long trip*. I know some are saying it's an acting job by DA but in addition to not having a clue to where you are (on a road trip that she knows well), the handcuffs, the metal seat, and being closely watched the entire time by LE would trigger an anxiety spell for many. I agree that a medication withdrawal could also contribute to her behavior.

* I get a little uneasy on European trains that go through dark tunnels just for a few minutes.

There is simply no reason, other than sadism, a desire for extra-judicial "justice," and perceived cost savings for pre-conviction detainment and transportation to be as uncomfortable as Leon County (and most others) have made it. Let this level of treatment wait until she, or anyone else, is convicted.

Yes, for a 7 hour trip with an elderly woman having withdrawals. It was extremely harsh. Thats the human side of me talking. It is just cruel treatment for such a long trip.

Have not watched the whole video. She does look pretty miserable. Not sure the correct technical term , but wonder if is some kind of fracture of her ego. Remember, she has been calling many of the shots, including the plans for the one way trip to a non- extradition country. All she ‘wanted’ was the kids in Miami and that worked UNTIL now. The trip to Tallahassee via LE is the sign she is no longer calling the shots. What are her friends going to think? What are her grandchildren going to believe if she can no longer spin her story without her conversations being recorded? She has a lot to reflect on during this drive. I think to find it search her name plus ‘ long trip to Tallahassee’.

Do you think that stems from anger at WA not stepping up to do anything?

As in innocent before proven guilty? It's an outdated phrase that always sounds odd when used in connection with someone that has a lot of incriminatory evidence. If they're innocent, they shouldn't be rotting in a tiny 8 x 8 cell for years. It doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely, but it should be "you might be not guilty as we haven't had your trial, but the evidence against you is overwhelming. See you in court." And that's kind of why we have bail. It rates your level of "innocence" and bail is set accordingly.

I'm an empath, but I feel nothing for her. Any time my brain tries to kid me into feeling empathy I remind it that she is responsible for the murder of an innocent man who will never get to see or touch his kids again. The Adelsons destroyed many lives, obviously Dans, but also their own, their grandkids, KM, SG, LR and all their kids and relatives. Sorry but for me zero f's given.

I am talking about the narrow metal seat and the drive for 7 hours. It would be painful for anyone sitting there. Of course my sympathy ends when I remember what she did. That van would probably not transport many people 7 hours. I have seen many movies with transport vans and they are not designed like this. Have you ever seen a transport vehicle with uncushioned narrow bar seating?
Now we know she’s guilty.
But imagine an elderly lady not yet tried having to endure 7 hours of this?
I’m just saying that the seating could have been a bit better. Thats all.
