Right. We saw what happened in the Murdaugh and Read trials. It’s too risky at the expense of a true and just verdict.
Yes! Amen! This young woman is a little too eager. MOO.

Very concerned she worked hard to get seated on jury for this opportunity. I’m sure the defense is watching her every post. OMO. Don’t blow this, kid!

My guess would be that WA and HA would have to be removed from the equation and the two boys in agreement for that to happen. As I have said before, no telling what the boys think of the Markel family and their deceased father, and if they would even want that name at this point. So sad. JMOO
When the boys reach 18, they won't need either of their permissions to change their names back to Markel.

One thing Donna can be thankful for is the incredible amount of time she got to spend with her grandkids .... before she got arrested. She got what she wanted for a long time!! She got to be in her grandkids lives until they were teens.

I am happy she finally is experiencing consequences; though my only wish it would have happened sooner, but hey we can't have it all.

I also appreciated that Mr. Markel noted the amount of children affected by this crime. We tend to focus on the Markel/Adelson boys, but there are other kids who lost just as much (Sergio and Katie's kids, Luis R kid(s) I know he had a child really young, but not sure how many he had as an adult, Charlie's son, additionally Rob's kids, Shelley's kids.... just so much loss all for what?! So, the Adelson's could have every single thing they wanted.

It will always amaze me how well Wendi was so cushioned from this murder even though it was done for her (IMO, of course) She had the most to gain from Dan being gone. In the beginning I remember thinking why in the world is her brother so concerned with his adult sister's life so much so he would risk getting caught in all this?!

Bless the Markels, Ben and Lincoln.

MOO; JMO

While the DA trial excitement was going on, the First District Court of Appeal filed their "Answer Brief" (attached) to CA's appeal. Interesting info about Change of Venue and Jury selection.

Maybe this final summary is why CA is reportedly behaving poorly in the Leon County Jail.

I believe CA attorney gets to respond now.
I was going to type a reply about spending so much money on a jury consultant and legal team that were at times incompetent, but it's only academic. Any Florida jury would have convicted him. Even if the price tag matched the skill, it wouldn't have made any difference to the outcome.

Excited that there might be more arrests. We had Donna fleeing the US as consciousness of guilt. In a possible trial of Wendi (if indicted), we would have cable cancellation, asking about Wednesday kid swap, her closeness to family and moving away from family as each layer is exposed--- in parent's apartment, living nearby with less and less contact, to moving to TX/CO where the Markel family still has no or extremely choreographed visits. I look forward to how she fits in the "train" of conspirators. I wonder if her mother and brother regret supporting her as she has never done anything to help them out, or so it seems.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall when it was discovered that Donna hadn't deleted messages and apps on her phone which meant so much more evidence......

I just had a useless thought, but here goes. Why were VI statements done on verdict day? I thought they came on sentencing day? And boo hoo that DA needed time before being sentenced. The judge was ready to go.

Yes @ShadyLady ….. and I am also remembering what IMO was an odd police interview with WA shortly after DM was slain. I found that interview technique, the presence of another individual (friend or acquaintance of WA was it?) and the entire interview surreal. And both of those present were answering questions IIRC? And for each other and on top of each other speaking or responding? Or interrupting or correcting each other I think? Always wondered why it was allowed to proceed in that fashion? SMH.

I realize sometimes one just wants someone talking, but it seemed unusual. Maybe some of those allegiances and individual’s relationships will change or wane - in light of the multiple convictions in this case. And something will result from that? And maybe some small kernel(s) in that interview will add just one or more little piece to the puzzle? Or contribute one more coincidence needed to pursue other charges? MOO
WA seems to be able to walk away easily from people as soon as they are no longer useful to her. Ex-friends will take note, imo.

I would like every text about timing of TV repair to come out. As well, as what Jeff knows, and her other friends with benefits. I don't think WA is as smart as she thinks she is, and her lack of control over her emotions and MOUTH will be her downfall.

Can't wait for the continuation of this saga.

VI statements were allowed since they travel a long way to be in court and have done so many times. For Charlie Mr. Markel was on zoom and it loses impact. It was a courtesy and the right thing for the judge to allow. They were very impactful right after the verdict.

Thank you. I haven’t been able to follow as closely as I would like. 🌻🌻

She got the opposite things that she killed for. Not only did she lose that battle but she is in jail until she dies.

“Spaghetti and Mashed Potatoes”
That’s the horrible menu item that she mentioned. Carbs and more carbs, no protein!

I followed it pretty closely and it seems so odd when the trial is over. !!

One commentator that was following the very active TikTok of the jury foreperson said nothing new for a while now. She thinks one or more major networks have gotten to her and asked her to stop and come on for interviews...Could be Dateline etc. Maybe get more jurors. Of course those gigs pay and involve nice trips so I think she will stop the TikTok now.

State Attorney Jack Campbell said that his team is going to rest a few weeks and then "make decisions". I can't help but think this a very intentional public statement to activate WA to perhaps go on a "vacation".

Right now, we’re celebrating last night’s victory. We appreciate the work of the jurors and the support of the community. I understand everyone’s curiosity and interest, but for now, we’re going to let our team rest.

“State Attorney Jack Campbell said his office will “make decisions in the coming weeks.”

State Attorney Jack Campbell

Where in that article does it say they will rest “ a few weeks” and then “make decisions”?

I assume all involved need a "rest" and to get away from this for a few weeks...I get that. I think they have a plan. Not sure Wendy will try to flee with the two children and a partner to another country. I think her game plan will be the most expensive and best criminal defense team possible and put on a much better case than her mother or charlie did. I think she is or has recruited some really big names famous for getting people off. She knows trying to flee means instant arrest...she wants to delay as much as possible. Given the age of Mr. Giger who is a great witness and some of the other key witnesses who have been so effective you want to move quickly to insure they are all ready to testify. Markels too want to see this next step and they are not young. I assume she has some legal docs in place for care of the children and that would involve this Jorge the partner and/or a friend that has agreed to help. She might even be released on bond if she does not try to flee so that she can stay with her children until trial.

Luis Rivera had a child born with a heart defect weeks before the murder.

I agree with all of this but there is no bond option for Murder 1 suspects and I can't see WA spending 1.5 to 2 pre-trial years in jail, even with a speedy trial requested. (a) Lesser charges could keep her out of jail as could (b) an approved motion for house-arrest. DA tried (b) it was rejected but like you said, WA has a higher-profile legal team that perhaps could negotiate it since she has children, no criminal history, and would not be considered a flee risk.

I can’t believe Wendi has a significant other knowing what her family has done. Wouldn’t you want to run?

All MOO IMO:

Letting WA dangle for a bit also increases the likelihood that she will slip up and do something else that can indicate consciousness of guilt. It also gives her a bit of time to figure out who will care for her children. Would the State attorneys give her attorneys (not sure who they are, but I'm 100% sure she's got representation) a heads up at some point? Even if she is ultimately convicted for crimes she is charged with, her life would be turned upside down (not sure why your spouse being brutally murdered; correction: having your spouse brutally murdered wouldn't be something that would make it impossible to function day-to-day already, but having no conscience seems to be a common Adelson trait...).

Also, she might be the toughest one to get a conviction for; however, but for DM's connection to WA, I think we can say with 99.9% certainty, he would not have been murdered. MURDERED. I just don't they the Adelsons are grocking that they MURDERED somebody; and that normal people in our society aren't down with MURDERING someone. But for his relationship with WA has to amount to a conviction somehow. Her hands are not clean.

IMO MOO
