Florida State University professor Dan Markel was found in his Tallahassee, Florida, home on Friday. Police say there were no signs of robbery or burglary and have yet to disclose any motive.
According to Tallahassee police, officers found Markel after a neighbor called 911 at about 11 a.m. with reports of a "loud bang."

Markel, 41, was rushed to a local hospital, where he died the following day. "While we cannot release specific information or details regarding this case, the Violent Crimes Unit is releasing that Mr. Markel's cause of death was a fatal gunshot wound to the head," Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo said in a statement.
By Monday, police had categorized the case as a homicide, and according to Tallahassee Police Department spokesman David Northway, Markel was the intended target.

After revisiting when Donna was arrested at the airport I noticed how quickly Harvey anxiously tried to thwart her phone being taken. That makes me think that he was fully aware of the murder plan, hence the need to keep the evidence in her phone from the police.

Could be, all the WhatsApp messages from this trial were new evidence. They had to come directly off Donna’s device.

Charlie Adelson said by phone on Friday September 5th, that 'after what I went through with my trial, I knew my mom had no chance. But to hear it in simple terms, it's over and it's done, was extremely heartbreaking.'

Adelson was asked why he didn't testify for his mother, he responded with the following. 'I can be subpoenaed to testify, and transferred, but I have a standing appeal, and I can not testify for anyone at this time.'

Adelson has been serving his life without parole sentence in a prison in South Dakota. He was transported back to Florida last month ahead of his mother's trial, because he was on her witness list to testify.

Donna nor Charlie testified during the two week trial, which ended on September 4 2025 with her conviction on three felony counts, which is a death sentence for the 75 year old mother of 3 and granddmother of 5.

Charlie Adelson's son Roman is now 7 years old and being raised by his mother in North Carolina. Charlie says, 'my entire family has been destroyed and decimated, there is no coming back from any of this.'

Asked his feelings on his younger sister's fate, 'I know she is concerned, and being the responsible person she is, she is getting her affairs in order, and will do what she has to do to look out for Ben and Lincoln.'

Asked if he harboured any ill will for any of his family members, including Dr. Robert Adelson, Charlie's older brother, who did testify at his mother's trial. Charlie said, 'I love my son and my parents and my sister and I miss them all so much, much more

than sending them all positive thoughts, there is really nothing else I can do for them right now.' The Fort Lauderdale, Florida home where Adelson was arrested in 2022 sold for $1,125,000 to an Israeli American businessman in March of 2025.

Charlie's first round of appeals was denied in January of 2025, he still has a few appeal paths going forward, but Adelson knows anything he tries legally is a 'longshot and most likely will fail.'

Dan Markel's divorce attorney Stephen Webster speaks on STS about the paperwork he would have filed against Wendi on the day Dan was shot. He went to see Wendi's attorney on June 24th 2014 and told him if he hadn't heard back by 18th July he was going to file it and she would be on the hook for fraud.

Starting watching this one last week and just finished….definitely info Georgia was holding back on.
He was on STS a few times over the last few years.- never mentioned that July 18th Deadline which was decided June 28.. wasn’t that the weekend Wendi with Harvey met AA?
When was that text from WA to DM asking him if he would be home July 11-18Th and can she have the kiddos Wed? The next week I think.
Very pertinent info.

Strategic move by GC to put him on the witness list for Donna but save him for Wendi.
The evidence keeps adding up.

Hi all, I have been following along on this one since it first happened but haven't been commenting. I am so grateful for Dan and his family to see each player being taken down. Such impressive work by law enforcement and lawyers. One thing I was wondering has to do with the TV situation. Does anyone know if there was a Best Buy appointment for the TV set up for that first attempt at the murder in June? I am just curious about this or maybe they had another plan to have WA occupied during the hit.

Donna Adelson received a shocking guilty verdict Thursday night after a Florida jury deliberated for three hours to decide her fate. From key evidence to emotional testimony, several moments led up to the jury’s decision to find Adelson guilty on all charges.

Hi. I am not caught-up on reading threads here..... I do have a question. I sure noticed that they had Donna handcuffed when the verdict was read. Wasn't she without handcuffs otherwise all through the trial? Is that 'normal procedure' to handcuff defendants when the verdict is read? I ABSOLUTELY do think that, if Donna had NOT been handcuffed, she would well Go P@stal and meebee slug her funeral home owner lawyer (and she would have liked to try to rush over and attack the jurors, but she knew realistically she couldn't accomplish that hissy-fit-of-rage). So, surely Donna wasn't told the verdict prior to it being read aloud in the courtroom, so do you think at the last moment the guards just came over and cuffed her in front and told her 'it's procedure/protocol/routine'??

Bet prosecution knows the details. When was TV bought? By who? Damaged? Who set up appointment? When? Who first picked up TV and delivered it to Wendi? I think WA will be impeached on the TV alone. And lying about several things as her previous testimony has changed. IMO

Ha....I saw rage, too. She was surprised IMO. Maybe her lawyers told her what she wanted to hear to keep her placated. That family seems to think they are above the law. They do have "friends".

I am wondering why Harvey did not testify for Donna? And WA missing in action for a while now.

It seems Wendi got what she wanted, her freedom and Dan's and Adelson money. Will she try to run, too?

IMO

I'm not sure why Donna was cuffed, but I did notice that when the jury came in to deliver the verdict, the judge told the courtroom that no one was to stand as they entered.

I wondered about that at the time, but now I think that was to hide the fact that Donna was cuffed. Her arms were below the desk, so the jury couldn't see that she was restrained. At least not until she started throwing her tantrum and tried to throw her arms in the air.

Also, just after the verdict it did look like she wanted to walk over to Harvey, but the deputies stopped her and led out of the courtroom.

This is exactly what a narcissist would say.

No Charlie, YOU and YOUR family destroyed and decimated your entire family and other families along the way.

Unless more context is given from the source (e.g., how were they able to contact him and verify his identity) I am rather skeptical that this was an authentic interview with CA.

It's standard procedure to cuff and shackle before a verdict is read. It prevents flee attempts and other bad behavior.

I see no realistic chance of WA and boys fleeing the country or attempting to do so. They would never get out. Pretty sure she has better legal advice to not try that. She probably still thinks she can outsmart them in court but I bet she is pretty worried. Could some sort of deal be worked out? I don't know ....stay tuned. State is 5/5 on convictions so far so not much motivation for a deal.
