FL - FSU Law Professor Dan Markel Murdered by Hitmen-Donna Adelson Upcoming Trial - *5 Guilty* #28

I think it's really important that without Wendi giving it to them, how would any of the others know Dan's movements or routine. They wouldn't. Because they didn't have that kind of relationship with him. But Wendi had to because they were negotiating parenting. And she could arrange her schedule and her conversation so that she knew exactly where he'd be at the moment he was meant to be killed.

Even if she did nothing else, just supplying that information makes her part of the conspiracy.

MOO
She shoud be serving the same sentence as Denise Williams is.

If Wendi passed on Dan’s schedule to her family with the understanding it was to help with the coordination of the murder plot, and even if that is the only thing she did in furtherance of the plan, she is 100% guilty. With that said, there is nothing to support the theory that Wendi passed that information on – all we have is the text message that so many dissect and analyze as suspicious. People cite the way she specifically worded the text as suspicious because she asked if he was in town the “July 14-18” which were the custody ‘days’ Dan had the boys. The custody arrangements specified if the parent with custody was traveling their week, the Wednesday crossover day was trumped by the traveling parent. With that information, its not such an odd text – unless of course someone is murdered and every singe word, e-mail, and text prior to the murder is analyzed post murder.

Yeah, Wendi definitely provided Dan's schedule and likely the tag number in Donna's planner was provided by Wendi. She called Rob to tell him about Jeff so she could plant that seed with LE through him. She asked Jeff about his travel plans for a reason. She knew her alibi was to be the TV repair. And she drove by Trescott that morning because she knew what was about to happen. She later went on a celebratory dinner with Charlie and threw up.

She's not on the wiretaps with Donna and Charlie after the bump. That is key. She also never signed any checks to Katie. Wendi's defense at trial would be that Donna and Charlie planned and executed this murder and that's a strong defense. Unlike everyone else who has said it was all the others except me, for Wendi that defense is actually viable.

JMO

Important to note that in Donna’s planner, directly above Dan’s car info (08 Accord) was Wendi’s car info (07 Odyssey). IMO, this points more to the entry being part of Donna’s meddling in the divorce assets / settlement type research. That said, the info may have come from Wendi, but not in support of the murder plans.

So.....the most important people to judge the prosecutors were the jury! Who knew.

And Sarah and Georgia impressed this young man sooooo much that he changed his major to law.

Bet, WA would love to get new prosecutors for her trial.

Obvioulsy Dan would not have been murdered if he wasn't Wendi's ex and the father of her 2 boys. So in that sense "the core reason that Dan was murdered was Wendi" and "[Wendi] is the cause" of his murder. Donna wanted to live vicariously through Wendi and controlling Wendi's life and her children was a big part of that. To fulfill this desire in Donna, Wendi was rendered helpless by her parents. Jeff Lacasse in his interview gives us some good insights into Wendi's helplessness and emotional immaturity. It is unsurprising that Wendi was a wreck in her marriage and emotionally immature in handling the divorce/custody issues. Wendi in the aftermath of the defeats in court did try to chart a new course on her own but Donna wouldn't let her. Wendi expressed personal preferences of wanting to move forward in peace, about what kind of job she wanted, and was considering buying a house in Tally.

Wendi's independence was vehemently discouraged by Donna and Charlie was roped in to bring her back under Donna's control.

Against this backdrop, the argument that Wendi was the "cause" or instigator of Dan's murder by influencing Donna/Charlie to act is simply unsupported by the evidence.

JMO
Whatever labels you put on it, it seems the state thinks she played an important role. Hence their questioning her in all of the trials. In the end labels don't matter. What matters is what happened and what each of them did and did not do. JMO.

Imagine that? He wants to go to law school at FSU, after being a juror. Since Georgia also teaches some classes at FSU, I bet she'll give this guy a grade of A++ if he ever takes one of her classes.
I think his input would be invaluable for future jury selection. We have now heard from 2 jurors who were 50 years younger than the accused. I am getting the feeling many "assumed/felt/got the impression" they eye-rolled JackieF's attempts at "folksy & not tech saavy" and didn't buy it. What former judge would not know about Skype?
The biggest of all ironies would be if this young man would be the recipient of a Dan Markel Scholarship to assist with his expenses. However the young man is thinking about going into the military to help offset the cost of law school. Wish him well....

Evan, an aritculate and thoughtful juror on the Donna Adelson trial, has said that he's not sure there's enough to gain a conviction on Wendi based on what he's seen at this trial. He thinks "there's some sort of involvement there" as it regards Wendi and it may be worth looking into in some sort of investigation.

And a comparison between Canton LE, judge, and prosecutors.....AND Tallahassee LE, judge and prosecutors. WHAT a difference.

Daniel Eric Markel's presence is being felt.

FSU
is on the map. For justice.

Just as for DA, each bit of circumstantial evidence cannot prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. When the bits are added up, they can.

SO IMPRESSED with this young man! He is only 25 but wise and mature beyond his years. I hope the Markels are as warmed to hear he changed his major yesterday to pre-law as I am - Danny would be so proud to hear that!!

I wonder where the boys will end up if/when WA is arrested? Hopefully with DM’s side of the family, perhaps his parents. I guess all of the Adelson gang is in prison or on the way to same.
His parents have been divorced since 2012/2013.

I'm not attacking you, not sure of what your point is though and haven't read Ruth's book. A few people have said it would be best for the boys to stay with their Mum and for her to be arrested when they reach 18 so they can grow up with a Mum.

This is all based on having a mother who is not a complete psychopath. I think people could make a pretty good argument that the boys would have been far better off living without WA. It seems to escape people's memories that she killed their father.

Rob managed to flee the family home at 18 and ended up pretty stable. WA and CA were/are still under the control of equally dysfunctional parents as adults and look how they turned out. The less interaction the boys have with the Adelsons (including their mother) the better.

Note I'm not a mother, but I'm a father.
Well Ruth has said the boys were doing well and were excelling in school. She seemed to believe they haven’t been affected as the general public thinks.

Ruth —according to her victims advocate speech-(maybe listen to it again) said she believed it was Donna who drove a wedge between Her son and Wendi. That was interesting to hear.

I think that the boys excelling in academics is a good sign that they are being protected from the Adelson “curse”. There is protection from above when people pray. And their dad may have a closer connection to that. :)

There may be information that we don’t know of yet. She is being very cautious about her surroundings and conversations now but we don’t know if they were tracking her some time ago. I hope that there is enough to arrest for.

Katie may be providing specific information that would be useful in WA conviction. She could have been questioned further in Donna’s trial but for whatever reason she wasn’t. IMO questions to her from both sides were surface level. Katie referred to the “real ‘people’ who are responsible for Dans death to be held accountable”. That being plural must mean Donna and Wendi? She knows more than what she testified about.

He did preface that statement with the fact that he recognizes this trial focused on Donna (meaning he would not have necessarily been privy to all they have on Wendi and/or arguments would not be made to focus on Wendi’s involvement).

May I just say that I have greater hope for the future of humanity when I hear a 24 year old like Evan speak? What a dream juror and a kid so far beyond his years in terms of maturity and measured thinking/speaking. Donna might hate the outcome, but she got a very fair trial from a thoughtful and serious jury. Everyone should be so lucky to have a jury of this kind of peer.

He heard about Wendi’s drive to Trescott
He heard about what she told Rob
He heard about her TV repair alibi
He heard about changing the children’s name to Adelson almost immediately
He heard from Jeff Lecasse
He saw Wendi testify

And he said more evidence is needed to convict her.

I'm not really sure how excelling in school is a good sign they are happy and well adjusted. CA was a dental surgeon as was his Dad and WA a lawyer... they did great in school and later became fully qualified psychopaths.

"Donna who drove a wedge between Her son and Wendi."

That is of no relevance. Ultimately WA signed off on the contract to kill her children's father, ripping out a part of them forever. She is cut from the same cloth as her mother and bragged to multiple people that "Danny got his face blown off."

I'm sure that will come out in her trial. WA is the worst of this bunch for many reasons and is an unfit mother, least of all because she killed their father! That is contrary to good parenting....

So I'm sure she's getting them tutors and making sure they study, driving them to basketball practice, packing them school lunches etc but they would swap all of that in an instant for more time with their Dad.

I'm sure your empathy comes from a good place, but it is completely misguided.

There's a ton of stuff there was not mentioned at Donna's trial. Because it was Donnas trial not Wendis... The State already have more than enough for Accessory. Sara Yousef's testimony will be damning. She will be the equivalent of Rob Adelson. A heartbroken ex best friend, who is very credible, articulate with no hidden agenda. She is the reason WA will try and make a plea deal.

Masterminds also don’t paint a giant bullseye on one of the MAIN coconspirators that they have coordinated a murder with. It amazes me how people can either overlook this fact or justify it by saying it was all part of her ‘master’ plan as a diversion tactic or a reverse psychology tactic. I have always said if she were directly involved, its unfathomable to me she would have suggested Charlie as a suspect AND that she would have told Jeff Lacasse days prior to the murder that Charlie had looked into hiring a hitman the previous summer.

If the two below points are true – then I’d agree she was the Mastermind, but I don’t agree with either of the below

1) Wendi named Charlie in her police interview as a reverse psychology tactic

2) Wendi told Jeff (the alleged fall guy) the hitman story days before the murder knowing Jeff would bring this up to law enforcement and it would make her look innocent – another use of reverse psychology.

I fully believe that Wendi lied about MANY things post murder and I believe that may have started as early as in the police interview. It isn’t a stretch to believe she suspected Charlie was behind this and that thought became more of a reality as early as mid interview w/ Isom – meaning she suspected something was brewing PRIOR to and reality set in as the interview unfolded and she was recalling certain recent events – perhaps a clue was dropped in the 18-minute phone call she had earlier that morning with Charlie?
Wendy is the most adept of any Adelson of playing a role of innocence. There is absolutely nothing authentic in her testimony in any of these trials. Do you think that happens by accident? Note Juror #6 stating he expected Wendi to be a mess. Exactly - like Rob. She was not only not a mess, she is calculated in every single answer. This also jives with her deft ability to never be caught speaking of the case at anytime with any family member. Even attorneys like Wendi who know better would have a difficult time being so coldly precise in the application of their support and defense of their family through something like this.

Look at how she repeatedly lies about the foster care email. She cannot even give an inch that she may have overreacted. For someone innocent, she has surely put in so much time and effort into playing a role where she has done nothing wrong. Made no mistakes. Is not even guilty of using a mean name to shade her ex behind his back. It was silly, not mean. It was because she was scared, not flippant and cruel.

Underestimate Wendi at your own peril.

PS she knew she couldn’t cover for her family and also protect herself during the police investigation. Everyone knows both she and her family hate Dan. So does she cover for them all and pretend they don’t or throw them under the bus bc it would come out anyway and this makes her look innocent, and in her kind, her family as well when she proclaims they were properly shocked. In her mind, she helped them all.

She also made mistakes. Why did she think she was a suspect in the car if she didn’t know what happened until she arrived at the police station? Now she is lying to cover that as well, but it is clear she is told for the first time there on tape.
