In present day 2023 is his defense trying to build a case saying that the victim was “hyped up on pot”, like my grandpa blamed every crime in town on?

Meanwhile, the victim's family have filed a memo under the terms of Marsy's Law in a bid to keep Brewer detained before his trial. They argue he is a flight risk - because he has numerous tracts of generational landholdings in Georgia.

The detention memo also claims Brewer has a criminal history from 1985 that is described as including 'acts of violence, firearms, assault, alcohol, drugs, and dishonesty.'

So Brewer’s past caught up with him and his temper boiled over. As annoying as it is to have someone whizz on your building, it isn’t something you shoot someone for. There was a bar in the plaza he owned, he knew to expect this type of behavior, especially in KW of all places.

There’s a bar every 100’ in KW, so why was this kid shot vs any other patron who has done the same thing? When Brewer called 911, he knew this kids name already. If Brewer was in fear for his life, he wouldn’t have paused long enough to learn the kids name. Did Brewer know him already & have a beef with him? Not a Stand Your Ground situation thats for sure. JMO

Snip:
Cops have also released the 911 call, which was made by Brewer himself.

The caller states: 'Yes, hello, I just shot someone.' To which the dispatcher says: 'You just shot someone? Who did you shoot?'

The caller responds: 'I don’t know - what is his name? Garrett Hughes.'

(Clicking on this thread for the first time is a wild ride. The shooter goes from “bar owner” to “strip mall owner” to “real estate mogul”.)

Of course, that will only work if absolutely nobody on the jury has ever been stoned.

(Remember that movie Reefer Madness? Hilarious.)

According to court documents filed Wednesday, Feb. 12, the state proved that "Stand Your Ground" immunity is not available to Brewer because “to the extent that the decedent, Garrett Hughes, used or threatened to use force against the defendant, it was the direct result of provocation from the defendant.”
