FL FL - GERARD SCHAEFER -- How Many Victims?

  • #61
SL should have had an attorney and it is quite likely that any discovery is in the attorney's files.

So, what can we do with that do you suppose? We need some kind of carrot for London. Or how about McIlwain, the investigator in bessies post?

I was reading Yvonne Mason book Silent Scream last night and came across this in the acknowledgements section.

"Danny Williams the custodian of evidence for the St. Lucie County Clerks, who provided me with the mother lode of information, the box of evidence, which allowed the girls to have a voice".
If this stuff was given to her, then we may get him to allow us for view it also, or Yvonne may have taken color photos and descriptions of what was given to her

I spent a long time last night researching original newspaper articles. Beside his mother and father, he had a sister.

Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, December 13, 1995

I snipped the sister's last name. It's in the article at the link.

SSA, have you read the edition of KF released after Schaefer died? Some of his letters to SL are contained in the later edition.

I spent almost all night going back through "Silent Scream" by Yvonne Mason and she mentions a sister and a brother. Thank You for finding the sisters last name for me.You saved me a whole lotta research that would have had to be done tonight.. I spent most of today trying to get her school records from the schools she attended her in WV.One would think that after hearing her story some of them would have tried to help....but it appears we will have to obtain court orders for the release of them...the same as we did with Rickards Middle School in Florida. But Thank You...that will make it so much easier for us to hit public records and who knows.....she may also have some of the stories we need.
We have read beyond Killer Fiction, but I do need to reread that also. I have a horrible habit of skimming through books like his and trying to grab all the important info...things can be missed that way...so this time I will read it cover to cover.

I have my highlighter....which I forgot to get last night before I hooked me into my dialysis machine....for it seems to me like she mentioned his lawyers. So tonight as I am reading these books again, I can highlight the the things I feel may may lead us in the right direction, Thank You for giving me leads we need to follow. Somehow coming here and reading y'alls post gives me ny second wind

Attorneys files and the pages within remain covered by lawyer/client priv.
But Thank You for trying to give us new ideas. A carrot for London.....that one I gotta work on........

Yvone Mason in her book Silent Scream States:

"Gerard John Schaefer was born on March 25,1946. He was the oldest of three children. His middle sibling a sister named Sara, and his younger brother named Gary."

So I will hit some people search engines, and see if I can come up for current addresses.....they can't do any thing but tell me know......but perhaps one of them may just have his stories.....and they may have some sympathy to the families he left with no answers.........

Believe hun you just gave me another angle. There had to be a DA who would have received everything filed . So now I just have to find out what is correct procedure and which DA it was.

I will talk with Brother James and have him contact Mz. Yvonne Mason and she if she had pics . in her book it is mentioned that in his things were pics of nude women.. taken by Schaefer...those pics could very possibly help lead to more of his victims.....or at least give some families the answers they seek.``````

I don't know how helpful this will be, but the civil case against SL was filed in Alachua County, FL, 1994. Case records for Alachua County prior to 1999 are not available online. Copies of the petition and notices can be ordered online at myfloridacounty.com

Robert Stone was the state attorney who prosecuted the criminal case against Schaefer.

First let me say I am sooooo sorry to all. I know it is no excuse, but I was up till 5 am reading and looking over things to see what I could have missed. When my son woke me up at 7 am I was half sitting with my face on my laptop.
Bessie, there are no words to express my gratitude for all the research you have done on this case. But from my entire family, Thank You. I will check out as much as I can, especially the court link before I fall back to sleep Tomorrow I won't get much done, I have to see my dialysis doctor, and get my monthly labs.Once I get home and hooked in, then I can try get busy on the other things

You have no reason to apologize for anything, SSA. I know all about those 5am nose in the laptop sessions. LOL Just take care of your health and get some rest.

I did check out that court filing website last night. It had either 5 or 6 suits listed, so I ordered them all.I truly feel as if the answer we seek are in his short stories.....so hopefully at least one of these will either be the one she filed the 500 page brief on...or....one will in someway prove they were last known to be in her possession, at which time we will swoop in and hit her with legal action. I wish I knew why this has to be so difficult...All we really want to do is to bring our sister home and place her with our parents. Then all of them can rest in peace. If while on that journey, we can bring home another child, and save that family the torment of having to read what he did to his victims.....that would make it all even better

You mentioned one that had pictures. Have you sent that one a description and sketch of the ring and asked if they could look to see if they saw anything similar?

In Yvonne Masons book Silent Scream pages 168-179 contain some of the pics found in Schaefers home when it was searched, and under each picture is a small description .Brother James talked to her a couple times while he was in Florida and she said if she ever got to see the rest of the evidence she would certainly look for the ring and tell him what she found. None of the pics she had showed any jewelry.

I just can't believe all the kindness and understanding I have found here. In case I sometimes forget to mention it, I have never found such a kind group of people in all the years I have been researching this. Serial killers are the hardest to research. When it comes to someone you love...you sit there reading the things that someone who was pure evil has done to them.....I sit here tonight Thanking God that my parents never had to face the kind of knowledge that we now have available at our fingertips. I would never want them to know the nightmare that Debbie likely endured during the last hours of her life.
Y'all with your kindness, your helpfulness, and your understanding of our need to know.....You have made these things easier read about......Thank You

SSA, I'm reading right along with you, and I can't imagine how painful it would be to read the trash written by Gerard Schaefer and wonder if my loved one suffered the torture he describes. The answers should have been provided to you ages ago so that you wouldn't have to be subjected to this torment.

I cannot believe the suffering this man and his family are going through. And all because he wants to bring his sister home where she belongs, to rest alongside her parents. I really hope he can find the missing information soon. This is a travesty, imo. :rose::rose::rose:

Reading those pages involke in me such a mixture of emotions. Pain for my sister...I can't even begin to imagine the horror he put her through. I read for awhile, then I take a break, then read awhile longer. I do know this nobody deserved to die that way.....I find myself hoping and praying she died fast .....I am anxious for the court papers to get here also....I also remind myself that in the end he felt some of the pain that he liked to inflict.....I know that is not very forgiving.....

Trying to find her is so very painful. Everytime we go to my parents graves and see the empty space we left for her body to go fills us with anger and guilt. We promised them we would never stop looking...and that someday we would bring her home so she could rest in peace....Gerard Schaefer truly was evil...he left so many families with no answer...noway to make it easy to bring them home.......

I have every reason to believe that your sweet sister KNOWS how hard you all have been working to bring her home. She no doubt feels very comforted by that and so you have succeeded already, imo.

Somedays when I think of all that monster did...and all the families like us who search. wait, hope, and pray. I get so angry over all he took....
But most days I remember that she is with my parents now, in a safe place that does not allow monsters in. I know all of them know we are keeping our promise, because while in different ways, still we search everyday.
It is still upsetting as we all watch missing childrens cases to become more and more frequent. So many of them are babies taken from the crib....I am not saying it can't happen....but sheesh...so very many...it is unreal. My biggest pet peve is when there is a case of a missing child....and the family says we are not working with law enforcement, nor talking to the media cause we need to rest.I mean HEllllllooooo, your child is missing.....I can't actually remember a day any of us stopped to rest...I mean plzz lets be real....
