*Motions Hearing (@ 10:30am ET) – FL – Harley Don Hiatt, Jr. (2) (July 31, 2018, Davenport, Polk County; tortured to death) – *Shanon Short (26/now 33) “mom” arrested & charged (7/31/18) & arraigned (9/11/18) with 1st degree murder of a child, 2nd degree negligent child abuse with great bodily harm, 3rd degree child abuse, 3rd degree failure to report child abuse (<all case# 2018CF007158), arraigned (10/3/18) possession of marijuana & paraphernalia & VOP (Petit Theft) (<Case# 2018-CF000522) (on probation for stealing from Walmart). Plead not guilty. Bond $2K, changed to no bond. Court says $100K bond. No bond reduction granted (3/10/23). Polk County
Plead guilty (6/29/19) to possession & theft (#2018CF000522A000XX). Probation revoked (7/23/19). Mandatory $5K civil penalty (8/14/19).
Trial set to begin on 1/26/26 with jury selection.

Judgement conditions (2). 10/23/25 Docket update: Motion to dismiss. 10/24/25 Docket update: Notice of hearing filed. 10/27/25 Docket update: Set for hearing to dismiss docket on 12/3/25 @ 10:30am with Judge J. Kevin Abdoney presiding. Jury selection on 1/26/26 @ 8am.
11/5/25 Docket update: Application for determination of indigent status. 11/20/25 Update: Minutes of Court. Notice of court date. Cancelled hearing to dismiss instead multiple motions hearing on 12/3/25 @ 10:30am. Judgement conditions.
*Christian Martell Thompson (26/now 33) – 9/14/23: Found guilty of all charges regarding murder & child abuse & no bill on possession of drugs. Sentencing hearing on 10/27/23 & sentenced to Life for 1st degree murder, 30 years for aggravated manslaughter & aggravated child abuse & 5 years for child abuse without bodily harm & child abuse.
