Henry Horton IV, of Okeechobee, was arrested Thursday by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s detectives after they uncovered his plans for mass killings at multiple locations, according to a probable cause affidavit, discovering that he had done “recon” at two targets in Parkland, including Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
When the detective asked him why, he said he wanted to do something violent because his stepmother had kicked him out of the house. He had written a manifesto, which was in his truck when he was stopped.

Glad they stopped this sicko from carrying out his plans.
Because no one has died at his hands, it's likely he will be released at some point.

He sounds sick and twisted enough that he should never be released, but that's not how our laws work.

Horton said while living in Virginia, he voluntarily admitted himself to a medical facility for a mental health evaluation due to having similar thoughts, the affidavit stated.

Authorities asked him where he was heading before getting stopped. Horton said he was traveling to Miami to look at a church, where he told investigators he planned to kill around 10 people following his planned 2026 attack at his former school, according to the affidavit.

Idk what his childhood was like (still no excuse to murder people); but it sounds like he wanted to take out people who didn't even know him !

An Okeechobee County man is charged with written threats to kill after being searched during a regular traffic stop last week, but his mom and stepmother say he needs mental health treatment, not criminal charges.

A glass water pipe with burnt residue and three fillet knives were also found in his car.

The more I read about him, the more I hope he is in a mental facility for life. I don't know that I'd trust him to be compliant with medication, which he obviously needs. Nor do I believe he'll adhere to mental health treatment on a regular basis. Scary.

Ive never seen an attack planned that far in advance

I thought that too. Most 19 year olds don't think about what they'll be doing in 3 months, much less over two years. It suggests to me that it was a fantasy to him, tho, of course, he might have decided to accelerate the timeline.

I share the outrage many of you feel but I also feel sad. Sad for this kid. Sad for what led to this, for what keeps happening and being glorified, for the circumstances that have allowed anyone to think this is ever acceptable in any situation, for the state of mental health care in this country...

but also sad for this kid. I admit, were we reading a "day after" account of one of his attacks, I'd likely not have any room to feel sad for him at all. But for now, I feel sadness right alongside anger and disgust.

Communication with both of his parents.

They know of his mental illness, and he had been under treatment of some kind.
I gather what the Mom says..."he just needs a firm diagnosis"... might be a positive trigger for him to get better medical attention....

Wouldn't it be nice if violence and fantasies of violence turn out to be simple medical problems that can be cured. ...instant world peace...

Police said the attack was planned for Jan. 2, 2026, which would be Horton’s 22nd birthday.

Horton was taken to an area hospital to receive a mental health evaluation, but was later arrested on Thursday.

He was charged with intimidation with written threats to kill or harm another individual.

Horton remains booked on a $1 million bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 5.
