''Police arrived around 8 a.m. and began lifesaving measures, but the baby was unresponsive, Hollywood police spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi said in a statement. She said an investigation is continuing and offered no additional details about the baby.

The workers were preparing to replace the roof at the apartment complex in Hollywood, just south of Fort Lauderdale, when they found the baby inside a box in the trash bin, the South Florida SunSentinel reported.''

Police are investigating after a baby's body was discovered inside a dumpster in a Hollywood neighborhood Monday morning. The infant's body was found by a construction worker inside the dumpster in the 1700 block of Rodman Street, just east of U.S. 1, around 8 a.m., Hollywood Police officials said. According to police, the infant was unresponsive, and lifesaving measures were performed, but the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

that dumpster doesnt look like the regular ones, it looks like one the roofing company rented for the waste accumulated while re roofing the apts. not that it helps just an observation.

At least someone knows when the dumpster was placed there --helps narrow down the time frame to check security cameras & traffic cams and the like.

I just can't comprehend how a woman could go to all the trouble of having her baby, and then do that. This is why we have adoption - to provide parents to children who otherwise wouldn't have them.

RIP, sweet baby.

also Florida has the safe haven law so absolutely no excuse to abandon/murder a baby (and anyone who does this should be charged with murder IMO)

New parents have so many options now. I wonder if the mother realized that once she's given birth, she doesn't have to share that information with anyone, not even her parents. The doctors are bound by HIPAA. So the fear of telling the parents is eliminated. She could have gone to a hospital and walked away without her family knowing.

I really hope she wasn't very young and it wasn't abuse. Just a situation that spun out of control and she and the father panicked. Not that I think there won't be consequences of course. The story behind the birth will effect the sentencing.

It's also possible that the baby was stillborn, or died from some natural cause, and they didn't know what else to do.

I just hope nobody in this situation was trafficked, or forced to do this.

They knew what else to do besides a literal dumpster. People use a dumpster because they hope the evidence will end up in a landfill. Not because they care about what's being put in the dumpster.

Someone was either hiding a pregnancy they didn't want and saw the baby as more of an object than a valuable person, or this baby was neglected/abused.
All JMO.

''The decomposing body of a newborn baby has been found tied up in a plastic bag in a dumpster in Florida.

Construction worker David Vasquez stumbled upon the grisly discovery in Hollywood on Monday. He noticed a 'bad odor' at an apartment and checked the trash.

He discovered a tied-up plastic bag that was covered in blood, and inside was the dead body of the newborn.''

''The baby's body had likely been in the dumpster for days, investigators said''.

'It definitely hurts. (Some) people try to make babies but they can't make babies, they can't conceive. They could have placed it up for adoption,' he continued.
Another local questioned whether the tragic death might be related to expanding abortion laws in the U.S.''

''Officers are asking local residents to come forward with any security footage they have from ring doorbell cameras or even Teslas to identify who is responsible for disposing of the baby.''

I'm guessing the baby probably was stillborn, then.

Even if so, normal behavior is to call 911 in the hopes paramedics can help. They didn't want or care about the baby.
Oh, I'm not arguing that at all, I was remarking on the charges. They haven't charged with murder, manslaughter, or any child abuse, child cruelty, or child neglect charges. Just charges relating to improper behaviour around a death and disposal of a deceased person.
