And a older article that had a little different take that I've seen on what her name might have been.

She said her name was Susanna, Sue Shannon, Sue Anna, something like that.

I've been pagan for 20+ years and I would agree with this. Although, back then, the higher paid new anger tarot readers/psychics might dress like this. But with a lot more crystals hanging off of them. (Still true, btw.) If she was really a new ager, I would expect to see more stones in her rings, etc. She'd probably have had the tarot deck in a special bag, possibly with her reading cloth in it too. Any word on what the cards were held in?

We might be able to circulate her picture within the pagan community down there and see if anyone recognizes her. The witches' voice has been around since then. I'll send an email to Fritz if you think it's worth a shot.

Me, too! I'm guessing the tarot clue is specifically from Jesperson's recollection and that the cards weren't found with the body. I'd love to know which deck it was. If it wasn't the ultra common Rider-Waite, that could tell us more about her. (I can say for certain it wasn't either of the decks pictured, as the Nigel Jackson and the Radiant Rider-Waite weren't printed till 2000 and 2003 respectively.)

It couldn't hurt to pass her picture along. Maybe someone remembers her at a New Age/ Occult shoppe. My mom and I used to go to a little one I used to go to in the early 90s and bought our first several decks at, owned by a relative of one of my classmates. Those were the ideal places to purchase cards in pre-internet/ pre-Barnes & Noble days. She may have worked at one or befriended people who did. (I really miss such shoppes. Haven't been to one since I moved to TX! Sorry to wax nostalgic there.)

I grew up not very far from Holt. This case has always interested me. There was a truck stop walking distance from my house. After watching the video and reading this article, I am confused. The video with the recreations appear to be an 30's-40's (not 20's, IMO) and the detective states she has dark brown or auburn hair with blond highlights. The article says Jesperson confessed but that he is a liar....the details he gives about her appearance don't seem to match the evidence they collected. Maybe it is more difficult to identify her because they were initially going off info from an unreliable serial killer. I think if we looked for a 30-40 year old with dark hair versus blonde we might come up on something....I'm not convinced Jesperson had anything to do with it.

Julie Renee Gann Brumfield

To me, she favors the reconstruction in the video. Her description notes that she "usually wore 3 or 4 rings on each hand and a heart-shaped pendant necklace with a diamond in the center". She went missing just a few days before the body was found, which they estimate the unidentified was there longer. Florida heat and rain could surely defy some laws of decomposition. Also, Louisiana isn't far and a straight shot from I-10. Just thinking outside the box of the information they were given, just in case it isn't true.

They mention them in the video's in post #14 on the1st page. They're also shown (a representation) on the photo of the new rendering shown in that video, the one with the LE badges.

Here's another article from 4 years ago that has a forensic investigator speaking of them. The video no longer works for me.

Thanks. I generally have too much trouble viewing/hearing videos to bother with them; I can't make out any of the writing on that photo and it blurs when I try to enlarge it. I'll keep trying...

Sigh. Sigh. And triple sigh.

Oh well...

From the details he gave LE, they are quite convinced Jesperson did it and is being truthful about the case. The information he has provided has matched up with the evidence. The recreation he assisted in is still relatively recent, so since the previous composites garnered nothing for twenty years, the new one deserves a chance. That article was a bit spurious and is several years old. I tend to rely more on what the detective said in the interview from last year.

I received a call today from the detective in this case, and he said that Suzette Jones was ruled out based on DNA.

Yes, she has.

What about Leah Calabrese? Her DNA is entered and available though. Guessing that would make her an auto rule out?

Details of Disappearance
Leah was dropped off by her father at East Plant Street and Hennis Road at 11:30 a.m. October. 24. Calabrese had told her father she was going to clean a house and would call back later for a ride. She never did.
After 10 days passed and he hadn't heard from her, Calabrese's father reported his 30-year-old daughter missing. Calabrese lived with her father in Winter Garden. Police suspect foul play because Calabrese kept in regular contact with her family. Calabrese was known to work as a prostitute to support a crack cocaine addiction, and she also frequented the city's east side.

I noticed one of the rings looks like a wedding band but there is no mention of wedding band. She could of been Married?? I wish there were better close ups of the jewelry.
Does anyone know if she was found with a full Deck of tarot cards or just those six tarot cards?
The six that are shown are The Sun, The Star, Death, The Empress, The Magician and The High Priestess

She has the Heart with the 4 leaf clover the bracelet with ring of bells and I notice a leather necklace with what looks like a triangle with intertwined rings. This woman I believe could have been pagan, wiccan or spiritualist by the types of jewelry and items she had. I wonder if anyone remember having the tarots read by a woman that looked like her at some point. Or maybe if there was a renaissance festival at the time going on in that area or a area around. I know in NY they have them every Year.. If there is one out there it could be a place to post flyers and maybe someone remembers her.

Rings bracelets and a necklace with geometric symbols.

I found this map for different renaissance festivals in florida 2 are held close to where the woman was found. I also noticed the site was created in 1994. Don't know if that is when these festivals started in Florida. But its a thought maybe she had something to do with that. The guy who said he killed her, did he ever mention where he picked her up?

Investigators in this case suspect foul play.

I came across this and thought of this Jane Doe

I thought of this Jane Doe since she had Tarot Cards and I am thinking back as to tarot cards were not just bought in any store.
Maybe she came from this area or someone out here had seen her. I was looking as to when in 1994 this store opened but I could not find it.

And there is a thriving Wiccan population in Jacksonville. Just ask Wayne Marriott (no relation to Michelle). He knows because they shop at his store in Five Points called Earth Gifts. Opened in 1994, the shop is a favorite among Wiccans for supplies for their altars and rituals.
Marriott has shelves full of books on Wiccan spells and rituals, cauldrons, herbs, crystals, rocks, candles, altar bells, chalices and special daggers called athames.
He's been so successful, he's doubling the size of his business. He plans to have classrooms available where he can bring in experts to teach pagan classes.
Wiccans come from all age groups and income levels, Marriott said. Some are mothers, doctors, nurses and college students. Many are women in their 20s and 30s and fledglings in the faith.

According to this video they said her body was there for about 12 weeks 3 months which would make her time of death around June 1994.. Also said she was picked up at a Truck Stop in Tampa and was headed to Reno Nevada. Also said maybe had relatives in Miami area.

There has been no mention of shoes anywhere though.. just wondering

Circumstances of Discovery
The victim's skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area north of I-10 near the Holt exit.
The victim was believed to have been hitchhiking. She is understood to have caught a ride from the Tampa Bay area, and may have had connections to Miami. Allegedly the victim was trying to travel to Reno, Nevada.

The suspect in the case, Keith Hunter Jesperson, confessed to the murder. He was not sure, but thought her name was possibly Suzanne, Suzette, or Sue. According to Jack Olsen's book, "I: The Making of a Serial Killer," Jesperson thought the unidentified woman might also be named Suanna, Susannah, or Sushanna (or Shoshana). He also noted that she was carrying around things like bark and moss and he wondered if she might have been some sort of fortune-teller. She also carried a music device (boom box or Walkman), which Jesperson later gave to his friend.
She is victim number six on the Happy Face Killer's list.
