In an April 3 news release obtained by PEOPLE, West Palm Beach Police said detectives recovered "body parts that appeared to be from an infant" at the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County on April 2.

“The load was apparently cleared away and the body parts that were found by that worker remained on the floor,” police spokesman Mike Jachles said in a press conference Wednesday

A Solid Waste Authority worker called 911 on Tuesday around 5:25 p.m. to report the grisly discovery at the SWA Renewable Energy Facility on North Jog Road in West Palm Beach.

“We found possible human remains on our tipping floor,” the caller told 911, per WPBF.

West Palm Beach Police spokesman Mike Jachles that the “tipping floor” is where garbage trucks stop to dump their hauls.

so sad. We may never know who this infant was or how it ended up in the trash. This birth may not have been one that happened at a hospital and the mother may have hidden her pregnancy or just told people around her the baby died.

Poor wee thing. I hope LE is able to identify what truck from what pickup area brought the remains into the sort station. How traumatic for the workers who made the discovery :(

DNA will track them down.

Oh, so sad -- for the infant who didn't have a chance to show the world what she or he could do for the world or neighborhood, or state, etc.
Hoping the DNA can tell the authorities something about his/her parents, but odds on this may be slim.
Compare the baby DNA to whom?

DNA will track them down.
you would need either the mother or father's DNA to be in the system for that to work. What if the parents aren't?

Just need a relative of the bio parents in the system.

Mom will just claim baby was still born and there will be no way to prove. SO many couples out there would have loved that baby. Sad.

There have been a bunch of infant cases solved in the last few years through DNA and genealogy. I think othram has handled a few of them.

You still don't toss the child in the trash!

they might be able to assess cause of death or at least figure out if the baby was alive when born, esp. if the baby has not been dead that long and if they can recover all or most of the body IMO

How awful :(. Makes me wonder how often this happens and goes undetected. Probably way more than I want to know. :(

@othram , sending you the BatSignal for this wee one!

The truth shall come to light. The baby's parents will be found. IMO. I have a feeling we will be seeing this much more in the coming years.
