Crane with straps ("boat lift") onto a flat bed trailer... now how carefully they did that ... we don't know.

Google images for "warehouse boat storage"

Wow that's so interesting to me. It's getting it out of the deep water that intrigued me so much. Now this lol. No wonder little kids look at big machines as though they're gods lol. My neighbor is 7 and still looks at the garbage truck with big wide saucer eyes filled with wonderment. So cool!

The FBI has it. The clearly got it on their own if the Coast Guard was unaware.

I doubt FBI could retrieve it without coast guard help. (Unless they are bluffing about having it)

I edited that post to say hoist too... some kind of big equipment and straps... I think you get what I mean...

whoa! just stated fbi has cat in their possession in a warehouse somewhere

Oh thank goodness. That's the best piece of news right now! This way it can be thoroughly checked.

DH is now interested in the story.

Yeah, but you can't get a conviction is there is reasonable doubt. The question is: will they ever have enough facts to arrest him, try him and convict him, because right now, there are explanations for what we know.

(Of course it stands to reason, if he did kill her and it was premeditated, he would have worked out plausible deniability ahead of time...)

I'm hoping that in his rush to get off the boat (IF there is guilt) that he left behind evidence thinking the boat would sink and he'd be golden. At which point it will hopefully open some different avenues to pursue.

Family heartbroken:

This is sad.

I assume they can't compel him to return the baby-- she is his baby!

(Taking his story at face value and assuming he is free to come and go as he pleases)

I am hoping beyond all hope that LB is innocent in all of this. So many stories of spouses doing away with one another that it's become commonplace to automatically think the worst. Their pictures seemed happy. They're travels appeared heartfelt and beautiful.

"Monday, the Coast Guard confirmed with one of Hellmann's relatives that the catamaran has sunk in more than 4,000 feet of water, according to the Palm Beach Post.
The potential crime scene where Hellmann was last seen on her Bahamas honeymoon is now gone."

"DELRAY BEACH
The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed Monday it has lost track of a potential crime scene: the catamaran on which Isabella Hellman was last seen before she vanished.

And a relative of the suburban Delray Beach real estate broker said Monday authorities have told the family the boat is gone, sunk in more than 4,000 feet of water."

"Asked Monday if the Coast Guard ever inspected the boat close, the Coast Guard’s Lally said, “I haven’t heard that we did.” Asked it any other agency did so, or perhaps has possession of the boat, he said, “I wouldn’t have any more information.”

Now this is stupid. CNN says they have the boat. Relatives say it sunk. CG says fhey have no more information.

Pretty confusing to say the least. Could the report on hln have been to make him sweat? Maybe?

Maybe.

Another oddity from the same article: "The FBI has refused to respond to any inquiries except to confirm that the Coast Guard is handling the case as a 'missing person investigation', the Post reports."

The coast guard has the investigation, not FBI?

Here are my fundamental problems with blaming him:

1) no way he flipped the catamaran

2) no one puts themselves in a life raft at the mercy of the ocean unless it is life or death situation. Life rafts are NOT safe. They are last resort options

These are my hold outs. Until I get reasonable explanations for both, I think this was an accident...

Thank you.

How do you think it took on water since it is reported that the hulls were scraped but had no holes?

I'm not Hiandmighty but I still think it's maybe possible that the catamaran sailed over a large marine life or large floating debris that was submerged but floating near the top of the water. Maybe it was a container that had fallen off of a vessel like was proposed earlier. Could that leave scrapes on the hulls without destroying the boat completely?

My parents owned a 39 ft hans Christian sail boat with a pilot house.
The pilot house wasn't the type of place one could slip into the ocean easily from.
What was the "bridge" like on this boat? I looked at a few photos of Cats and they are very roomy.

Maybe, but the CG stated they saw no holes in the hulls.

To be honest, I don't think the FBI would salvage the catamaran, they don"t have the resources to spend on a non-terrorist case and where foul play isn't obviously indicated. I think they'd be more likely looking into LB's background and contacts, his digital footprint, financial situation, etc.

IMO, if LB had just wanted to be 'rid' of his wife, he could have just stayed away in the UK and Austalia. My completely instinctive sense is, if there was a crime, it was part of a larger deception, such as insurance fraud and a coverup of illegal activities, or some kind of desperately needing money scenario.

Hopefully the coast guard took detailed photos of the pontoons, that might be enough if a forensic inquiry were called for.
