7/31/25 Update: Present Judge London M. Kite, Asst. State attorney Christina Simak Stifler & Gardner's defense attorney Jose Baez & defendants Gardner & Saldana present in jail. Saldana's defense attorney Frank Tassone. Others present: Stephen Siegel (ASA) & Patrick Korody for defense. Hearing on defendant's motion for protective Order regarding private communications & other evidence held in full & taken under advisement. Order to be entered. During a pretrial hearing on Thursday, Judge London Kite agreed with a request from the attorneys to set a new trial date of 8/3/26 with jury selection & trial from 8/10/26 thru 9/18/26. That’s when jury selection would begin nearly one year from now. Gardner & Fernandez will have separate juries for the trial, and Kite discussed the possibility of bringing in as many as 500 potential jurors (250 each) for jury selection because of the high-profile nature of the case. Kite expects the trial, which is a death penalty case, to go until Sept. 18, including a potential Penalty Phase. Next pretrial hearing on 9/19/25 @ 9am.
9/18/25 Update: The judge presiding over the Bridegan murder-for-hire case on Monday granted a request from Bridegan's ex-wife's estranged husband, Mario Fernandez, to prevent certain evidence from being made public before trial. Judge London Kite granted a motion from Fernandez, restricting the disclosure of some discovery materials related to him, including multiple interviews & reports, until "a jury has been selected & sequestered." "Defendant believes these materials contain allegations of uncharged conduct unrelated to his current charges that, if released to the public, would jeopardize his right to a fair trial and due process," Kite wrote in her order on the motion.
Judge Kite went on to say that the court finds the materials to be of little relevance to proceedings, but said the materials should only be withheld until "the jury begins deliberations in any penalty phase, or the jury is discharged having reached a verdict, is sufficiently narrowed tailored to balance protecting his rights with the public's rights to open proceedings." Another motion Kite granted from Fernandez on Monday now prohibits the Nassau County Jail from releasing "any & all" communications related to Tenon to the public. "These communications include, but are not limited to the following: jail calls, tablet calls, tablet messages, incoming mail, outgoing mail & the like," Kite wrote in her order the motion.
9/19/25 Update: The evidence released last week by the State Attorney’s Office provided new insight into the chaotic moments surrounding Bridegan’s shooting. Multiple 911 calls on the night of the shooting captured varying perspectives of the incident, with witnesses reporting gunshots & an SUV stopped in the road with a man lying outside & a young girl inside. Due to the graphic nature of the body camera footage from responding officers, News4JAX only shared still images from the video. After some procedural updates in the case, Judge London Kite ordered the pair to return to court on 11/14/25 for pretrial hearing @ 9am. Jury selection (250 prospective jurors per defendant) on 8/3/26 & trial from 8/10/26 thru 9/18/26 (if penalty phase necessary.
*Henry Arthur Tenon (61/now 64) – Plead guilty (3/17/23) to 2nd degree murder & will testify against Saldana & Gardner. Status hearing on 12/2/25.
