A 24-year-old North Miami, Fla., woman was arrested in connection with the death of her daughter after she allegedly called 911 and told the dispatcher she killed the girl, according to an arrest affidavit.

Jellissa Baxter was charged with first-degree murder and child abuse. She was denied bond at her first appearance in front of a judge, and currently being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami.

"When asked how she killed her daughter, the [defendant] replied she strangled her at first, but when that didn't work, she stabbed her in the chest and neck," police stated in the affidavit.

Baxter was wearing a white bathrobe when she answered the door for arriving officers, according to her arrest affidavit, and led them to her daughter's body on the floor of the living room. The toddler was reportedly riddled with "deep stab wounds" to the chest, neck and face and pronounced dead at the scene.

"The knife was located next to the victim's body," the affidavit states.

The 911 recording from the call made by 24-year-old Jamaican, Jellisa Baxter, who reportedly killed her three-year-old daughter, has been released by Florida authorities.

The recording was released following Tuesday’s event.

Harold Hemmings told NBC 6 South Florida news on Thursday, that he met his stepdaughter once when her mother passed away from cancer in September last year.

"She (Jellisa Baxter) didn't seem like a bad momma to me... the one time I met her and the baby - once," he said of the encounter.

"She's sick, you know. That's all I can say, because right now if somebody is going to pick up a knife - (and kill) yuh one child," Hemmings lamented in the interview.

Did meth make her do it? I mean was she on meth? and peaking? if she was a victim of meth - that's a BIG PHARM prob right?

I do not think she was of sound mind .. and am sure if we look back enough she is a victim of many things before she was convicted. I think think this conviction is showing she is not of sound mind. nothing in the convictions!!!
