During an interview with detectives, Coombs allegedly admitted to causing the injuries that led to Brown’s death, according to police. He said he bound the child’s hand with a robe tie and bound her legs with painter’s tape to keep her from reaching into her diaper at night.

Coombs allegedly admitted to detectives that he picked up Brown while she was still bound and dropped her on the floor, where she gasped for air, and then admitted he “took it too far” and allegedly struck her multiple times. According to police, Coombs reportedly did not call 911 because he said he was scared.
Florida man babysitting 3-year-old allegedly bound her hands and feet, dropped her to her death

He was babysitting five children, ages 1 through 9, while Paisley's mother was running errands.

Detectives say the mother told them she was on the phone with Coombs about an hour before he called 911, and she could hear her daughter say in the background, "I love you, mommy."

That was the last time she heard her daughter's voice.

The 3-year-old girl's mother is also being investigated by detectives to see if she contributed to, or was aware of, and should have reported, abuse in this home.

Coombs reportedly told investigators he “took it too far.” He also said he was scared to call 911. After Paisley became unresponsive, he allegedly waited about 40 minutes before calling for help.

Coombs had only been Paisley's mother's boyfriend for a few months according to family members. Other articles point to a history of domestic abuse against the mothers of his own children. RIP sweet child, this was completely preventable.

JMO I hope that the mother wasn’t aware of abuse in the home, but if she knew and allowed it to happen, then I hope they throw the book at her. Poor little Paisley and her siblings. MOO

So historically according to the article, he was abusing adult women, the mothers of his children over the years. Then he escalated to abusing children. How on earth did this child’s mother cross paths with this sicko? I will never understand how women get so comfortable with someone, so quickly that they disregard red flags, and allow the man to move in.

Coombs admitted to detectives that he bound the toddler's hands with a robe tie and her legs with painter's tape at the Citra home, according to the sheriff's office.

The 32-year-old claimed he had restrained Paisley to keep her from reaching into her diaper the night before.

Investigators later discovered that Coombs had been left alone with the children that morning.
'Loving, goofy' toddler, 3, died after mother let boyfriend move in

Something that was covered in the other links but I just now caught in the DM one has raised questions for me:

He was in charge of the children as Paisley's mother "ran errands" that morning. Where was she the previous night when Coombs bound Paisley's hands and feet? The articles imply Paisley's mother left him in charge the morning of her death.

When Coombs dropped her to the floor from a height and began beating her was she still restrained from the previous night?

I am with her father, I sure hope LE is thoroughly investigating mom's role in all this. I find it difficult to believe she had no idea of the abuse if her toddler was retrained hand and foot from night into the following day. JMO
