Wow I remember this case from Disappeared. I wonder if there will be another arrest. How awful this woman got to live so many years free!

OMG I had no idea his remains had been found or that the new husband was awaiting trial on kidnapping Denise. Wow. May justice be served.

Watch Florida widow charged with husband's murder 17 years later

According to a Leon County grand jury indictment, Denise Williams has been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and accessory after the fact in the death of Mike Williams. She was arrested Tuesday at her office at Florida State University and was escorted away by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The indictment states that Denise Williams and Brian Winchester, her husband's best friend, plotted for nearly nine months to kill the 31-year-old.

As soon as I saw Crime & Justice airing the arrest of Denise Winchester I, too, recalled seeing this case on Disappeared. It was so obvious who had done the deed. I suspect and in my opinion Brian Winchester, ex-husband, has given a lot of information in trade for a deal. Justice for Mike Williams.

Just found out about this case thanks to a post in another thread. I see she had a hearing yesterday (5/9). Anyone know "when" her next court date is. I noticed an article said later this month. Unfortunately, while going thru this thread, I used up my 5 times looking at the Tallahasee paper and now I can't get in there. Tried to find a court site for Leon County, and unfortunately, can't access that site from here! :gaah:

Any help would be appreciated!

TIA!

:rose: RIP Mike!

Lawyer: Mike Williams was killed by Brian Winchester; Denise Williams is innocent
https://www.tallahassee.com/story/n...nt-winchester-killed-mike-williams/595976002/

'Nothing to do' with death, disappearance

Denise Williams is innocent, he said.

"My client had absolutely nothing to do with Mike Williams' disappearance and had absolutely nothing to do with any of the crimes that Brian Winchester committed," Way said after her brief first court appearance Wednesday. "We will fight this until the end. And I'm certain when a jury hears from Denise Williams and the facts come out, the inescapable conclusion is that Brian Winchester killed Mike Williams."
[.....[
“Mr. Winchester was sentenced to prison, went to prison, he’s in prison, and now six months or so after he got into the Florida Department of Corrections, lo and behold there is a story that conveniently closes a 17-year-old mystery about something nefarious that happened involving a gun,” Way told the Tallahassee Democrat. “And that statement is made by a man who is in prison for committing a violent offense with a gun.”

Glad to finally see an arrest. Now I wonder about Mike's mother and his daughter. I believe the daughter is at FSU and probably knows very little about her grandmother. I hope there can be a good reunion.

Yeah, Winchester may have pulled the trigger and he may have driven Mike's truck and boat out to that boat launch. He may have even put Mike's body in the other location. But after driving his boat and truck out to the launch someone likely gave him a ride home. I'm thinking that was Denise Williams. If that is the case, after collecting the life insurance proceeds and marrying Winchester I can't say she would be innocent. In any event there was an accomplice. And didn't Winchester sell Mike the large life insurance policy?
