Jimmy’s phone last “pinged” in the area of Pinellas Bayway and U.S. 19 near Interstate 275, in Maximo, just before the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Then, the phone’s battery died.

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge was searched and his father said he feels assured nothing happened to his son there.

Where is Jimmy Butler? More than a week after he went missing, the search continues

Friends have been searching the area around the Pinellas Bayway and U.S. 19 because that was the last place Butler's phone pinged before the battery died. His father says detectives told him they were unable to spot Butler riding on the Sunshine Skyway in any surveillance video, so they're looking for any leads on his whereabouts.

His family says his Honda motorcycle didn't have a muffler, so it would have been pretty loud.

We were there last spring. That bridge is intimidating enough in a car, in daylight with fair weather. Hard to imagine him crossing that on a motorcycle at night while (semi?) intoxicated. However I remember lots more areas on Pinellas and US 19 where the road is near water. Hope he is found safe. Soon.

From what his dad is saying he never got on the bridge but I guess he is more saying he never went through tolls there still quite a ways from this intersection to the actual toll booths. Then there is an alleged sighting around 22nd ave , loud muffler and driving slow. This is not an area i would feel safe in at night alone ever.

Missing: Help us find our son Jimmy Butler

excerpt this morning from an update post by his dad.

To this end, we now have the two mothers in the same place. Today, we are going to take pause and attempt to regroup. We are going to get organized and start to put rigor around the search for Jimmy.

We are going to do some research and begin to find gaps in our search. We are by no means experts, but we will attempt to become experts in the next day or so.

Body of motorcyclist found off highway in St. Pete

Troopers say two highway workers picking up trash alongside of the road found the man's body just north of 54th Ave. S. just before 11 a.m. Pieces of a motorcycle were also found in what appears to be a traffic crash that occurred several days ago.

No official confirmation yet.
