Florida has A LOT of sets of unidentified remains that could be him, but they don't have DNA, and DNA is the only biometric John has. That's really too bad. Florida needs to either step up its game somehow or fingerprints or dental records need to be found for John.

His middle name is Thomas according to Ft. Lauderdale police dept missing persons. He would be 57 and turning 58 in January. John Thomas Degnan , age 56 on intelius.com Has one relative listed, male age 47 with different last name. He has a fb under Jack and I swear it looks just like him, just older. Same exact nose, ears, hairline, eyes, just a year off.

Despite the height difference, I wonder if John could potentially be a good candidate to be 1988's Julie Doe in Clermont? Saying goodbye for a while (perhaps to explore a different gender identity)...I am finding a facial resemblance too. Disappearing in 1980 would give him more than enough time to receive the implants Julie had that were done before 1984. I am really stuck on the height difference but everything else makes sense to me...thoughts?

Details of Disappearance​

Degnan was last seen at his residence in the 1400 block of northeast 16th Terrace in in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on November 2, 1980. His parents found a note from him in their mailbox, saying he was going away for awhile but he would be back and they shouldn't worry. He left his vehicle behind, parked in the driveway.

Degnan has never been heard from again. Few details are available in his case.

According to the clipped article (and others of the time), John was robbed by gunpoint and his car stolen when he was trying to make a nightly deposit from his job. The suspects were tracked and opened fire on LE who returned fire with suspects sustaining injuries. Unknown what, if any, this impact had with his disappearance but I would imagine it was incredibly traumatic. No additional info beyond 1980 is found with regards to the incident, filed charges, etc.

Who knew he was making a night deposit? He left a note so perhaps he was planning on taking the money for himself? It seems more likely someone who knew him and that he had cash vs two random brothers robbing him.
