How far is the bar from where his truck was found? Had he parked there and walk toward the bar? Maybe he was accosted on the way. You don't wander around Ybor City in the dark alone, ever.

Car-Location.jpg

The map shows the location his car was located and his intended destination (the bar).

John Larson was seen on camera turning at an intersection before he parked nearby. There is said to be unreleased video of him backing the truck to park. He text a friend a photo of his truck after parallel parking in a narrow spot. His walk to the bar should have taken less than 10 minutes. It is fairly crowded nightlife area with numerous bars.

April 26, 2022
11:54pm - John texts a friend he is meeting that he is parked a few blocks away.
1:01am - A text message indicates it is read by John's phone which is password protected.
3:30am - Phone last pings in the Palmetto Beach area about 1-2 miles from his truck (past the bar).

Useful post, thank you! Do you have a media link for the text screenshot? I'm afraid it may be removed otherwise.

When he didn't show up at the bar in a timely manner, did his friends go looking for him? When I went out with friends we would all keep track of each other and that seemed, at the time, to be a normal thing to do. Maybe times have changed. This young man had to walk quite a distance to meet up with his friends. I know most use Uber/Lyft now instead of having to park and walk.

Where was he prior to going out? At home, work, with others, did they suspect he was under the influence of anything or was he sober and happy?

Missing Tampa man’s ID found at DeSoto Park – FOX 13 News
<snipped & BBM>
On Friday, police found Larson’s Florida driver's license stuck in a fence at DeSoto Park. It's the same location where police say his cell phone last pinged.

[...]

Police have conducted multiple searches on the ground and in the water at DeSoto Park. So far, police have recovered a shirt resembling the one John was wearing that night from a dock as well as a knife but it's still unclear if either belonged to Larson.

"It was like super close to where the dock is, where the shirt was found. So that's why we had this search out there again with the K-9 dogs. But nothing else was really found at this point. But now we know, you know, that's definitely his ID," Caffrey said.

Ybor.... always walk in pairs these days there. No concern for me over where he parked... its hard to find parking there. But something had to have happened on the way to where he was meeting someone. some of those streets are very iffy.

It could have been found by someone and stuck in the fence with the intention of displaying it to make it easier to find.

It’s so bizarre to me that 2 months later there’s no chatter. like with gabby and trystan they were all over the news but this case has little attention (IMO)

It’s interesting the sister is the “speaker”. I haven’t seen anything from the GF or baby’s mother.

TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa police found the body of an adult man late Wednesday – not far from where a family has spent weeks searching for a missing father.

They're describing it as a death investigation and do not suspect foul play at this time. The body was found in the 900 block of S. 20th Street around 6:30 p.m.

As of Thursday, detectives are holding off on publicly identifying the body until they notify next of kin. They have blocked off the stretch of South 20th Street for several hours.

This portion of Tampa is an industrial area less than two miles south of Ybor City. It's not far from where 24-year-old John Larson was last seen before disappearing late April.

Also on MSN News. Sad ending if it' true.

Snip
Although police have not released the man's name, the family of John Larson, 24, said their search for their loved one is over.

At around 6:30 p.m., police said they found a man's body in the 900 block of South 20th Street. Police said it's still early in the investigation, but "foul play is not suspected."

Snip
The family said private investigators found the 24-year-old's body behind a dumpster at CED Port Tampa, right across the Ybor Turning Basin. They were able to identify him by a cross tattoo he had, Joann said.

in my very personal opinion - i think he drove drunk to meet up with the friends judging by that incredibly blurry photo of the truck he sent to his pal. i think he got lost, and then stuck in an area of a commercial business.
