One good point that legal blogger Andrew Branca brought up yesterday is that LE wouldn't know to search for a weapon because Dunn is the only person claiming to see a weapon on the teenagers and Dunn had fled this scene. If Dunn had stayed at the scene, he would have been able to tell the officers to search for the teenagers' (IMO, imaginary) weapon.
