I am confused about States Attorneys and District Attorneys in Florida. Was Angela Corey assigned to the Zimmerman case as a Special Prosecutor? Do the counties have district attorneys? Or are they called States Attorneys? Thanks for helping me. I have confused myself big time. :)

Prosecutors have different titles in different states. They're called district attorneys, state attorneys, county attorneys, etc. but it's all the same. The regular prosecutors are called assistants. The elected attorneys are just called state or district attorneys, etc. They are basically the head of their district. They are not assigned, they handle the cases that occur in their jurisdiction. I don't know why Angela Corey is prosecuting this case or know that could even happen, lol. Cases are just assigned to the assistant prosecutors after they come to the state attorneys desk. That's the gist.

She has to take the stand if they call her. I definitely don't want to miss her. Seriously, how can you drive off with your boyfriend who just shot up a car full of kids and not do anything?!!! Actually, I'm surprised she hasn't been charged with accessory after the fact.

I understand she would have to take the stand or suffer some remedy, I should have been clearer. I hope the prosecutors call her as a witness.

I watched her police interview and the video from inside the gas station. imo, she was simply an innocent bystander. This is all on Dunn.

Det. Musser: The state did not request a recorded interview from the witnesses. #MichaelDunn

Come on. Witnesses are not usually interviewed. We know this. He's better at this than Nurmi and Willmott though, I'll give him that. And by this, I mean making mountains out of mole hills to confuse the jury.

Figured this out while doing Casey Case.

In Florida, the state is divided into Judicial Districts. They all fall under the State's Attorney General. Each Judicial District has an elected State's Attorney who is in charge of the district. The lawyers who practice defense law for the state are Assistant State's Attorneys.

There are no District Attorneys in Florida.

Angela Corey was named special prosecutor in the GZ trial. She brought in her team from Jacksonville to conduct the trial in Seminole (?) County. The Seminole County State's Attorney was the one who didn't want to press the case. So, the Governor appointed her to deal with the situation.

They are state attorneys and ASAs in FL. In my experience, the SA's do tend to prosecute the high-profile cases in their county.
