Being perfectly honest I can't stand loud music that isn't my taste. It works my last nerve.
My own son, works my last nerve with the crap he listens to. I hate it! ( RAP)
My husband listens to country, I'd rather be strapped to the roof rack than ride inside his vehicle.
Somehow we've managed not to kill each other. Somehow we co-exist.
I've never once asked a stranger to refrain from doing something that's perfectly legal because I don't like it.
I have options. I can move away from the annoyance...I can suck it up and ignore it.
It's not that difficult.

I would think that any gun owner, and my husband was one, would think twice before putting themselves in a situation where there was a confrontation, and just walk away. The words....."Are you talking to ME?" should never have come out of MD's mouth. He should have just moved his car if the music bothered him. He was 42 years old and armed. He had to pass a course about gun safety to get a concealed weapon permit. He knew the rules about gun safety and yet he allowed himself to get into a confrontation when he knew better. Then he took off thinking no one would know what happened.

I would also believe the witnesses that were standing right there when it happened would have had no emotions involved in what they witnessed until after the fact. My concern is with MD firing 10 times and only 9 bullets accounted for. What if the stray bullet had hit someone. A small child in the backseat or a car that might have been parked there on the other side of the SUV that MD had no knowledge of. That is just crazy. Continuing to fire a weapon after the SUV is pulling out sounds more like rage. What did MD say on the stand? He was concerned about the people and RR coming out of the store and gunfire from the shotgun. Did he have any consideration for those customers at the pumps or anyone he might have hit because his aim was off? No, he did not. jmo

My husband is a very smart, successful white man in his mid fifties. He has a lot of male friends, some as far back as elementary school. He is kind and respectful and receives the same in return.

He would never engage or escalate a situation at a gas station where harm could befall a number of innocent people. He would have moved his car if he was bothered by the music or some mouthy kid. He certainly would not empty a gun into a car for something he thought he saw. It is called using common sense and good judgement. If he thought peril would befall him or anyone else, he would have called 911. He certainly would not have left the scene.

He has a high stress, fast paced job where people's lives are on the line. So I am not exactly sure what you are saying other than these kids deserved what they got and everybody should carry a gun. Respectfully, I disagree with everything you posted. JMV

Two thumbs up and two snaps:)

ciao

I don't see how Dunn felt his life was so threatened that he had to open fire on the vehicle, leave the scene and never call 911. If I had one good reason for why he did not call 911 I might cut him some slack, and I say this because I know there is no reason why he could not report what happened except he knew he was way wrong with his actions. He thought he was going to get away with it, I am sure of that.

I don't like it either. I used to get rides from school from a guy who would blast loud hip hop while drove (LOUD), it's just the thing to do, don't ask me why, it isn't pleasant. When Dunn asked the boys to turn it down he didn't even say he has a hearing problem, he said he couldn't hear himself think. It was simply bothering him and he couldn't wait five minutes.

When I lived in Montreal the neighbors behind us (awful people) would have loud parties and blast their radios in the back yard until they had to turn it off at 10 due to the law. Normally this wouldn't bother me, I'm not the person who bangs on the neighbors ceiling or complains about crying babies on airplanes. I just don't care. But my daughter was trying to sleep and the music was keeping her up. We didn't ask them to turn it down and at 10 they turned it off, but if we had and they didn't then we just had to suck it up. And that's totally different because we couldn't move houses or close the windows (it was that loud). Dunn only had to deal with it for a few minutes but decided to be confrontational and make their music about him. That's the problem these days. We don't know how to co-exist anymore or tolerate others. It's all about ME ME ME. How is this affecting ME? A lot of problems these says wouldn't be there if people just minded their own, sucked it up, and exercised a little patience with their fellow man. People are finding it harder and harder. Idk.

His concern for the dog is that man's only redeeming quality. IMO

I agree. I prefer my dogs over most people.

Im sorry, Any one who has more concern for a dog that is alive and well than a Boy that he shot and killed has no redeeming qualities.

No, they don't. They don't have to prove anything. In Florida if they claim SYG the get a hearing so they can prove that. MD hasn't asked for that hearing!

That isn't quite accurate. To claim self defense is what is called an affirmative defense. This legally means:
AFFIRMATIVE DEFENSE

A defense in which the defendant introduces evidence, which, if found to be credible, will negate criminal or civil liability, even if it is proven that the defendant committed the alleged acts. Self-defense, entrapment, insanity, and necessity are some examples of affirmative defenses. See, e.g. Beach v. Ocwen Fed. Bank, 523 U.S. 410 (1998).
This is from the online library at Cornell University Law School
http://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/affirmative_defense

So yes, there is some element of proof that the defense needs to offer when claiming self defense.

You may want to mark the date...;)

I was wrong. You are 100% correct. He has no redeeming qualities.

I have been curious what exactly was the music/song/cd whatever that put Dunn over the edge?

Someone mentioned it earlier on the other thread but I don't remember what it was.

Did you notice on the pictures where MD and RR's table was at the wedding.....right by the DJ's speaker. That could be what MD meant when he told the detective in his statement that he was "dealing with other things". He's at a wedding of his son whom he has not seen since his son graduated HS and where does his ex-wife sit him. At a table for two (it looks like in the picture) right next to one of the speakers. Must have upset him. The ex-wife's daughter said they played all types of music, not just classic. Could it be possible he was feeling slighted for not being at a "family style" table but at a small table by themselves right next to the DJ and he took out his frustrations on JD for that slight? Even though the ex-wife's family said everything went well there was a lot of tension there in their body language. RR was the only one who sounded truthful about the event. jmo

Maybe the loud music at the wedding made him drink too much. I think he is a narcissist that took things too far. You don't kill a person over music, you leave.

MD was parked SO close to the entrance of the store --don't you think that if Jordan was yelling and shouting f bombs at MD they would have heard some of this from inside the store? The cash registers were right by the door.

I hope the 3 other kids in the car can go on and live productive, happy lives. It would be sad to think JD died in vain. Maybe that can be his legacy. I feel so badly for his parents. Praying for a just verdict. JMV

I saw two of the boys seated in court today and thought it was a good idea. Surely some jury members noticed them also. After all they too were victims. Jmo
