Does anybody who was here during the Travis Alexander trial know what happened to Rosemary and her teen-age son Kyle? She hasn't had any activity here since July.

He was going through chemo and I was thinking about them. Does anyone know if he is doing better?

It's OK, Jellyworker. We all need to hear this. I grew up in such a mixed school district with friends of all kinds that I have a hard time understanding the way society is these days. It feels so much worse than when I grew up. I would be scared to be any young person now.

Just jumping and before I head off to class but I just wanted to say that I blasted loud music this morning on my way to work in honor of Jordan Davis. it was rave music so it didn't have quite the same effect but...I hope when I send my students home I'll get on here and we'll have a just verdict. happy Valentine's Day everybody and have a great day!

These trials are emotional for me/us and when racism is involve, IMO, it's very wrong and emotional. :hug:

I think gngr snap gave us an update several months ago and both were doing okay (considering) . I wonder about them myself all the time.

SYG (and how it particularly empowers and emboldens bullies) is a terrible law. Citizens shouldn't be allowed to kill others for being annoying or looking "different".

Surely Floridians don't want this to be one of the main things their state is known for.

I've read posts on a social site concerning similar topics and there are those who are proud that their state is becoming known for this kind of thing.

been lurking on this board for a while. i've followed and watched threads open and close. i'm sooooo interested in the out come of this trial. i'm afraid this guy is gonna get off. that terrifies me. i pray that the jury sees things the way i see them. i know that the amount of time during deliberation doesn't typically mean anything, but the longer they stay in there, the more afraid i become. this may not be a popular opinion, but i'm scared that this trial may give florida residents the idea that killing black males is acceptable. i listen to "" music. i was that "" and had 2 15" subs in my car and would shake the pictures on your wall. it scares me that they kill us and say that "" scared me. is the new N word. sorry for being so emotion, and taking this post there, to a racial issue, but i don't know what else to do. this is not ok. its not ok for black on black crime, and its not ok to be lynched w/ the protection of stand your ground.

If listening to our music with tons of base makes us thugs (me Too) I don't blame you for being scared. I was home in the spring one year cleaning and listening to Sheena Easton and dancing must have been in the 80s, I went to answer the door bell and there was a policeman standing there. He Told me someone called in a noise ordinance complaint on me. My 3 kids were at school in the middle of the day, who could I have been bothering.? Well it was an older man next door.
Nowadays if it was someone like MD and if the guy would have come to complain to me with me standing there with a long telescoping duster in my hand he would have shot me. LOL In todays world with the short fuse so many people have we could all be counting our days. Those are the things that have to change. My son was into heavy metal he had a band in our garage, same for him not a lot of people liked heavy metal in our neighborhood. What can we do to change the perception people do not have the right to shoot for simple incidents?

i don't have an issue w/ SYG. what i have an issue w/ is when and how it applies. i live in texas. i've been robbed, had guns pulled on me in my own drive way. i pulled my weapon but didn't shoot. instead, i said, why are yall young brothers doing this, w/ my 9 in my hand. they ran and got back in the car. i called the cops after they left, but instead of looking for these young cats, the cops cuffed me up, searched my car, house, and asked why i had a weapon. why do you need a 9, ak47, sks, and a ar15? i still believe, even though we have the castle doctrine in texas, they would have found any reason to put me under the jail if i would have shot.... lord knows what would have happened if i would have killed one.

That is very sad. I know things are changing because I remember what it was like in the South during the late 60's. It just is not happening fast enough to suit most of us. jmo

In reading one of MD letters, he mentioned dropping out of high school and going back later to get a GED. Oh, and he implied he was so smart, he was able to pass it without studying or review. I wonder why he dropped out in the first place.....

At this point considering length of deliberation I don't think he will be acquitted . I am leaning to hung jury!
