If Michael Dunn was afraid there was a gun in the car why would he head out in the same direction and literally past them on the main road while they were sitting in the strip mall?

I too think the prosecution did not go into as much detail with Rhonda as the first trial. I specifically recall the prosecution asking Rhonda about Dunn's comments immediately after the incident. Questions like: Did Dunn mention that the occupants in the Durango had a gun, stick, etc. That the reason he shot was because of that fear....

JMO Poor, pitiful RR did not seem upset per her police interview the day or days after the incident. Check out youtube. JMO

Yes....that is the part that seems to be missing....I remember that question about him seeing a gun and as I recall Rhonda's answer was a firm NO...which I thought was an excellent point showing that him seeing a gun is only for this defense and has no basis in the events of the evening. I can't imagine why they would leave that out...I was in and out a bit on Sat. but listened to her testimony pretty carefully.

I haven't gone back to check from 1st trial, but I thought the questions about seeing the gun, etc. were when she was recalled on rebuttal after Dunn's testimony. When she was finished yesterday, I think it was indicated she was subject to recall.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A fourth day of testimony in the re-trial of Michael Dunn on a first-degree murder charge begins at 9 a.m. and after two more prosecution witnesses, the defense is expected to begin its case.

The state is expected to wrap up their case in Dunn's Monday. The defense will then begin calling its witnesses, which will likely include Dunn himself. Dunn also took the stand during his first trial.

Good morning friends!

I have a feeling that the prosecution is going for a bare-bones presentation for some reason. Just the basics so that the jury doesn't get mired down in a plethora of detail.

I also believe that the ME's and other testimony needs to be much stronger this time round. I hope they have found a replacement for "Mr. Bendy" that the jury can look at and poke dowels through.

When Dunn gets on the stand, Guy needs to be a bit of a pit-bull to discredit is amazing story. Last time, he didn't go after him at all, IMHO.

I also believe that, when the defense brings in all those character witnesses to state that Dunn is a "peaceable" man, they have something to counter it, such as the neighbor who witnessed Dunn with wives #2 and #3. Better yet, I wish they would rebut with at least one of the two.

I was here an hour ago, as I'm in the UK. I got my times totally wrong and thought it was 9am over in Jacksonville and couldn't understand why I couldn't find coverage of the trial. It was only 8am and I had got my times all wrong, lol.

What are they talking about now abut Dr. Simon?

I'm only an hour behind them and I always mess it up -- usually I get it backwards :)

#MichaelDunn Jurors have entered the courtroom & State of FL calls Wendy Meachum.

She is the forensic investigator.

Looks like there will be a video recreation of how the bullets entered Jordan's body using the dowels and someone sitting in the Durango? Should be interesting.

Hanania is pointing out that the objects were given to her. Meacham is done. Simons is up.

This testimony is intended by the state to show #JordanDavis was leaning away from #MichaelDunn and not threatening him.

Defense doing voir dire on Simmons. Questioning her "limited" experience as "low man on totem pole" which Corey objects to. She brings out that Simmons is not doing forensic pathology at the present time.

She was not the one with least experience in the ME office. There were 1 or 2 below her.

Ouch defence. That was a bit below the belt. Pleased it was sustained.

  • #539
Simmons only used probes or dowels within the autopsy room and had used them for training purposes as well.

She had used these dowels for indicating the path of wounds before.

She never used dowels in a vehicle.

  • #540
Corey is carefully outlining the strengths and weaknesses of Simmons. She did a lot of research for the case using, among other's, Dr. Di Maio's authoritative book.

Wowzers, cross will be tough. Corey needs this doctor to be able to testify to Jordan's position in the Durango when shot.

Vori dire is now over, and Judge says she is to be considered an expert by the jury.

MHO: The jury is left to make their own decisions about her ability to testify to the path of the bullets through the door of the Durango into Jordan's body.
