Miami-Dade police are asking for the public's help in finding a man with dementia.

Jose Alvarez, 67, was flying out of the country via a connecting flight through Miami International Airport. Police said he missed his connecting flight and has not been seen since.

Alvarez is missing a middle finger possibly on his right hand, police said.

Alvarez suffers from dementia and may be in need of services, police said.

Alvarez is described by police as a white-Hispanic man who is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 250 pounds, with brown eyes, a mustache and is bald. Police said he was last seen wearing a white and blue plaid shirt, gray jacket and dark pants.

The Miami airport is easy to get lost in. Again, another person with dementia put out there to travel alone. So very sad. Hope he is found safe!

I would no more put a person with dementia on an airplane ALONE than I would jump out of said airplane.

Persons with dementia are vulnerable persons! I suppose it would be helpful to know where his plane originated and his final destination. That MIGHT give some insight into whether he tried to get somewhere by other means. Lord have mercy- he could be anywhere!

Maybe he caught his flight. I've never been to the Miami airport. You would think there aren't too many places in the airport that he could be and not be discovered. Dunno.
