Found Safe FL - Kaileigh Hand, 17, Hawthorne, 5 Jan 2018 *Arrests*

  • #21
Extremely concerned for Kaileigh's safety. On his FB, Charles McMullen was angry he'd been accused of domestic battery, prohibited from ever owning a gun, and ordered by a court to counseling. He also posted a screenshot of a message from an angry parent demanding CM get off his daughter's FB page.

This man is violent, angry, and drawn to teen girls. Critical mix.

(Edit: redacted "anger management," because he didn't specify what kind of counseling.)

I wonder if the fb message from the angry parent was from one of Kaileigh's parents. They were trying to get her to break from him according to news sources. I am also very concerned. His fb page is disturbing IMO also. :(

I wouldn't think so. That was posted in June 2015.

Phew. Reading his own comments on that screenshot, I get a clear picture of his state of mind and "philosophy" on FB friending teen girls. He has zero sense of boundaries and no acknowledgement of existing ones. Dangerous, dangerous.

I don't know whether to roll my eyes, gag, or shiver. Or do all three at once.

Hit the little triangle with an exclamation point symbol in the corner of your post and it will let you tell the mods that they were found safe and title needs to be changed. I alerted mods just now so you shouldn't have to do it again, but sometimes they get busy and it may take a day or so to get changed/moved.

So happy Kaileigh was found safe!

Thank you so much! I'm on Samsung mobile app, and I don't see the triangle, but thank you just the same for helping me. [emoji254]

Oh, sorry, I don't know where the alert button is on that system. Perhaps a tapatalk user could answer how to do it.
You can also say, "someone please alert a mod to change the title" and usually someone will ;)

I remember there were days when my kids got a little miffed that I didn't allow them online. Luckily, cell phones at that time didn't have WIFI, and I refused to buy another computer for the house- we only had one, and believe me, I was strict, I even took the box into my room and hid it so they couldn't get on the internet.

Well one of my friends thought i was ridiculous, letting her daughter on all hours of the day and night on her own computer. Thank goodness, my friend's live in boyfriend answered the phone one day- a man, who sounded like he was in his 40's, called looking for my friend's daughter, who was only almost 15 at the time. Her boyfriend, after talking to the man, found out that he pretended to be a 17 year old boy on the teen site she frequented, and she was planning on going to the mall with this guy, she was completely innocent. Back then, it was harder to trace these animals, but my friend's BF scared him off, threatening to kill him if he dared to show up.

Not too long ago, my kids, all in their early to late 20's, talked about this with us during dinner, saying they were grateful that I was so strict and didn't allow them online hardly at all- only for school work, and believe me, that computer was within my sight to be sure. They hear all these stories of girls and boys disappearing and it makes them shudder, how many of them meet these charmers online.

At one time, my parent's generation used the TV as a babysitter. Today's parents use the kids computers and cell phones as babysitters. At least with the TV, many of us didn't disappear...........

I hope this darling girl is found safe and sound soon. My heart is breaking for her and her parents. She sounds like she was all excited to meet a nice boy her age, only to have this sick jerk pick her up instead. I wonder, did he use an alias with her to draw her out to him some place, or did she see him on his FB post and was enamored with an older man paying attention to her?

Kaileigh's found SAFE, thank God! (Link to the article is a few posts back.)

Steelslady, I'm with you on restrictive technology rules. Same in our house. And these kids off mine know exactly why because they had a person close to us deceived online, too -- a case that brought LE to the door.

I'm afraid Kaileigh has learned a life-saving lesson the hardest way imaginable.

Thank God she is safe! I love endings like this- when you think of what could have happened to her *shudder*.

I agree, you cannot be strict enough with them today when it comes to online social media. Mine didn't even have FB pages until high school, and not only did I have access to their accounts and friend's lists, but I also set their profiles to private. They weren't allowed on it daily, either. My husband and I had them in many sports and activities, keeping them busy along with school, so they didn't have much time to be online anyway.

Thanks for letting me know she is ok. When i first read this thread, I had tears in my eyes, for she seemed to want to make a good impression by dressing up.

Now comes the frustrating wait for justice!
