FL FL - Kelley Brannon, 36, left after argument w/ boyfriend, Live Oak, 15 Jul 2020

  • #141
I was in Live Oak recently, just passing thru and needed to refill a med. It definitely is not a high income town. Appeared to be lower middle class just from what we noticed. The people were very nice and helpful.

As we were driving thru, we noticed standing water on empty lots. Almost like the town was in a flood zone or there was poor drainage. It crossed my mind that one could lay a body in the back of a lot, lots of rain for days, and nobody would notice.

I read that her car was found unlocked in the parking lot of the motel. One would think she would have just slept in the car if she couldn’t get back into the hotel. It doesn’t make much sense that she would walk very far or even try to hitchhike away when her wallet was locked inside of the hotel room. I know people are saying she was drunk so maybe she did something that wouldn’t normally make sense but she sounds coherent in the voicemail. Additionally, almost all of her texts are spelled & punctuated correctly. There was one text that was spelled incorrectly but that can happen when someone is aggressively texting also… which she was obviously doing. Doesn’t seem logical that she would willingly get in a vehicle & leave all of her belongings… leads me to believe that something else happened. I’m assuming her social security number (needed for any job unless under the table) hasn’t been used or the case wouldn’t still be open. Any use of her social would lead the police to believe she wants to be “missing” . No cell phone use since the day she went missing (a little over a mile from the motel) & none of the other reported sitings have been confirmed. Seems like she may have never made it out of that town… all of the other theories seem to be unfounded… if a stranger picked her up… why would the last known ping of the cell be only a mile from the motel? Why would a stranger take her downtown ? If the phone had been thrown out of a car or something on the way out of town, you’d think it would have been found eventually. Doesn’t add up
Just a couple of points if you're interested:

Her wallet, ID, and credit cards were actually with her in the car. Her boyfriend had the only motel room key, and had previously taken Kelley's car keys away from her, but she had her purse and money. However, they were left behind. There is footage of her walking around the parking lot earlier that night, but no footage exists of her leaving the property.

I agree she doesn't seem particularly intoxicated in text or voicemail.

There has been no contact from Kelley since she disappeared almost 5 years ago.

Her phone didn't ping downtown. That was incorrectly reported. Someone had placed a manual Google Location point in her account, which is just the center of town, and it fooled LE when the boyfriend showed it to them. She was never there. If LE has any phone geolocation data, they haven't shared it with the public. The last thing we do know is that her phone synced with Google at 2:10 AM, but that's it.

It's five years to the day since Kelley Brannon disappeared. Many of us continue to search for answers. Kelley, you won't be forgotten.

Any digital forensics sleuths here?

If Kelley's phone synced to Google at 2:10am, would there be an associated location in her phone logs, at least a rough one that could be determined via tower triangulation? If the phone was on WiFi at the time, would that change things?

One of the most misunderstood issues in Kelley's disappearance is the alleged sightings of her walking away from the Sunshine Inn Motel. It's commonly reported that she was seen walking from the Sunshine Inn southeast toward downtown Live Oak around 12:30 AM on July 14, 2020.

On September 21, 2020, Kelley's boyfriend left the following post on this website:

He's implying here that LE has Kelley's phone's last ping location, and it's 407 Dowling Ave. in downtown Live Oak. However, this is untrue. This address is simply the geographic center of town (get driving directions to Live Oak and see where it takes you), and this false location was actually a misunderstanding by LE of what Google Location data shows. What's more, the location data indicating the center of town was manually entered into Kelley's Google account, likely after she disappeared.

Time and effort were spent searching this geographic center of town, including requesting CCTV footage. Of course, none of the footage showed Kelley because she was never there.

From the Novberber 9, 2020 Private Investigator's report:

So, where did this idea that Kelley went toward downtown come from? Let's look at an excerpt from the July 27, 2020 Private Investigator's report:

PI Report Excerpt.webp

A few things to note here.

First, Eddie was up at 8 AM because his first call to Kelley's phone happened at 8:03 AM.

Second, the only eyewitness account stating Kelley "got into a car" withdrew her statement because "she had been high."

Three, the trip back to Micanopy to allegedly look for Kelley was... strange.

There are no other mentions of eyewitness sightings in the report nor in the November update.

Now, check out these statements from a woman who was at the Sunshine Inn that night. She's one of the alleged eyewitnesses, but was her sighting ever officially reported to LE, or just to the boyfriend and online?

Alleged Witness Message 1.webp

First thing to notice here is that we have this story about a bottle of wine and Kelley being "really drunk" and not "making any sense." Then, she claims Kelley walked off "towards Pepe's," which is the convenience store to the northwest of the motel, away from downtown Live Oak. And note that walking toward Pepe's doesn't even imply that she continued past Pepe's, which is right next door.

Now, take a look at another conversation with the same person.

Alleged Witness Message 2.webp

Here, she says "we [note: who's we?] tried to help her because she was drunk get down the stairs" before walking toward Pepe's.

Nowhere else was this reported. Kelley was so drunk she couldn't walk down the stairs, then walks off, then makes one final very lucid voicemail at 12:59 AM?

I'm struggling to believe any of this, and it's hard to imagine there isn't quite a bit of lying going on here.

Thoughts?
