"Cinnamon"

Reconstruction of "Cinnamon"
On September 29, 1999, the decomposing body of a middle age, possibly white female was found on an abandoned cabin cruiser, floating off Sigsby Bay near Key West, Florida, after investigators had gotten an anonymous tip from a possible boyfriend that she was suicidal. Cause of death was found to be an overdose of alcohol and amphetamine, with suicide being considered. She was estimated to be between 35 and 60 years old, was between 4 feet 10 inches (1.47 m) and 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 m) tall, had black hair, and weighed 140 pounds (64 kg). Eye color could not be ascertained. Investigators believe that she had given birth at some point during her life. She was wearing charcoal colored swim trunks, cotton brief underpants, a tank top with a pink flamingo emblem, a rope necklace with a glass amulet attached, and a beaded string amulet on her right ankle. Investigators also discovered a poem with her body, detailing life and death, as well as a message stating that the boat's owner would soon be returning from Alaska. When asked, the boyfriend told them that the only name she was ever referred to by was 'Cinnamon', and that she never told anyone her actual name.[28]

Did they find the boat & it’s owner? It sounds like that person and the boyfriend are two different people? Where was the boyfriend when she was on the boat.

Amphetamine overdose would be an unpleasant and relatively uncommon method for suicide. Maybe this was accidental? Depending on if she was a prior user and had built up tolerance, it might also require a large amount. Maybe there was other evidence on the boat related to this.

I wonder if the Trans Doe Task Force might be willing to take on this case -- the decedent had unshaven leg hair, a short haircut, and was wearing men's swim trunks. A cut-off tank top could also be a make-shift chest binder.

I dont think wearing mens boxers/swimtrunks, skipping the leg shave and having a short haircut are enough evidence to classify someone as trans. And cut off tank tops also make a nice tube top.
Her boyfriend referred to her as female.

She knew something of the goings-on in that area if she knew the owner would soon be returning from Alaska.

It sounds to me as if the caller just did not want to get more involved outside of making the call. He had reason to be on the boat - "knew of" her, knew the owner, was the owner, whatever.

Nothing in NAMUS on PMI, and it's always difficult to know if it's accurate anyway, but sharing that found in this article of (2-3 days). Her body was recovered on Wednesday, Sep 29, 1999.

I am not able to find a Sigsby Bay, but there is a Sigsby Park and marina that appears to be in the location referenced.

Some info:
Sigsbee Park, also known as Dredgers Key, is an island about half a mile (800 m) north of Key West island in the lower Florida Keys; administratively it is within the City of Key West, Florida, United States.[1]

It is connected to the island of Key West by Sigsbee Road. The island and causeway are part of the Key West Naval Air Station. It is primarily used for Navy housing. It also includes a Navy Exchange, commissary, elementary school, Morale, Welfare and Recreation, youth center, child development center, recreation center, RV park, veterinary clinic and Sunset Lounge bar & grill.[2]

Wonder why no exclusions yet. Surely, they would have DNA if PMI was 2-3 days.

@othram A mystery for you to review. Do you work with Monroe County?

Interesting! I think it’s important to note that the article says she is 5’6. A commenter gave a range of 4’10 — 5’3 and NAMUS gives a height of 5’3. I think we may need to expand our search to 5’6 missing women.

Patricia Dixon’s MP timeline could place her as a possibility for UID known as Cinnamon. She does have a facial resemblance to the recon. However, no mention of tattoos on JD. She went missing after she was released from jail in July 1999. DLC was a call to family in August 1999. Missing from Knoxville/Maryville area of TN. Maybe a new start with a connection to someone that allowed her to live on their boat. A stretch but not impossible. Patricia was only 33 but it appears life may have been a bit rough for her at the time. Living a transient lifestyle and previous jail history might be a reason to have an aka. Patricia did have a son and Cinnamon was noted to have previously given birth.

When was the bust of Cinnamon made ? I’m assuming the artist was looking at Cinnamon or at least a picture when creating the bust. I think it’s important to note that while we are not given her eye color, which I find strange, her eye color on the bust appears to be green. I like Patricia as a match , she looks strikingly similar to Cinnamon and the circumstances seem to fit. Green and Hazel can be very close in terms of eye color. Cinnamon’s lack of tattoos (or lack of reported tattoos) does throw me off though. News article never mentioned JD having tattoos, is it possible they accidentally left it out ? I don’t see Patricia having money to get them lasered off if she did want a clean slate. Very curious.

Good question. I am wondering the same. I have contacted the Monroe ME to see if a comparison can be made. She may be able to be ruled out right away based solely on the tattoos. Will update when I receive a response.

Can I ask you how you go about reporting a comparison ? I have potential matches for Eva Ridall and Elsie Roane but unsure how to proceed in notifying law enforcement. I’ve never done anything like this before, thanks in advance !

I typically either call or email the contacts listed in NamUs and reference their agency case # and inform them of a potential match for review. Make sure your suggestion is not listed as already being ruled out.

I did a screenshot of the contacts and case #’s listed for both MP you referenced.
