This rings true to me.

But why kill Grandma?

Maybe it didn't have anything to do with his new school. He may have ransacked the houses looking for guns or money but what if he was looking for something else and Grandma didn't tell him where "it" was?

This rings true to me.

But why kill Grandma?

That is the toughest question and just heartbreaking. I know they loved each other very much.

I have 2 wild guesses, both of which may end up being way wrong.

One, it was horrible accident while they argued, about Logan's father and his rules etc. I think Logan was very upset and had reached his limit, for some reason, and may have been ranting, threatening to harm himself or his dad etc.

Grandma was an expert in de-escalation, and she would recognize if he was going off the deep end. and call someone for help, imo. So whatever happened must have happened fast.

I know she would have been compassionate and understanding but at some point she may have tried to counter what he was saying or stop him from what he was about to do. He may have suddenly lashed out and was too forceful? He may have been angry that she seemed to be taking Dad's side or not fully backing what he wanted to do?

But my first gut feeling, which may be totally wrong, was that he loved her so much, that he couldn't go through with his 'plans' and hurt her---so he ended her life to spare her the pain. I wondered if he had originally planned to set a staged crime scene and take out his father and escape the area--like he was a victim. But that is far fetched.

It’s my understanding the grandmother was caring for the boy while his father was away, but maintained her own home. not living with them?

Wednesday passed with no sign of either. By the following night, a police cruiser stood guard in a light rain outside French’s house, to which she had not returned, and from which guns had also been taken, First Coast News Reported.
A few miles away in Neptune Beach, police were still combing through the ransacked house where Logan had lived with his father.

Michigan connection. Could he have intended to go to Michigan? He could have gotten to Canada via Michigan (though unclear if that was an intentional action or a mistaken turn). It’s about a 16 hour drive from Neptune Besch to Detroit.

My kids high school used to call and leave a message on our land line. [Which was useless because the kids knew that and would erase the message when they ditched to go to the beach.]

The school may have left a message on the home phone, and Grandma may have heard the message. Maybe that began the issues between them?

Ahhh good thinking.....I hadn't thought of that possibility (skipping school and school calling grandma and an argument from Grandma and Grandson stemming from that.

What hours did GMA normally work? Would she already have been scheduled to be at work by the time the school may have called?

Kristina was so young with so much life left to live. She looks like a vibrant, kind woman in her picture and it seems she had built a nice career helping others. It’s just such a loss.

I wish we knew if the school called and when. And would Grandma get that call or Dad?

Does anyone local know if the magnet provided bus service? In my area, parents of students attending the magnet school have to provide their own transportation.

Yes, I read that in reports and saw the presser that was linked here in the thread. I was wondering if he was perhaps headed there but then realized there was an actual checkpoint or saw that there was border patrol or saw a sign that said "Checkpoint/have IDs ready" or something to that effect which made him turn around/make the illegal U-Turn.

It's also possible he had absolutely no plan and was simply driving. Did that car have navigation system or maps in the glove compartment? He did not have his phone on him, correct? (Thinking no Google maps with no phone)

ETA: Thoughts on the long drive straight through. At 15/16, it isn't nearly as hard to stay awake driving as it is in later years when you're older and the "excitement" of being a driver has worn off. I was able to make a few longer distance trips at around that age (16/17/18) with no sleep and I was not/am not a drug user. Add in the fact that he was unlicensed, grandma is buried in the backyard, dad is due back from his vacation, in gmas stolen vehicle and authorities or at the very least your parents are likely looking for you and not at all happy, the adrenaline alone could make staying up at least one night or more easily doable.

Did he even HAVE a drivers license at 15!?

I've been thinking about the school/leaving friends angle a bit.
A relative of mine had Type 1 Diabetes from a very young age.
He had some difficulties during his teen years because of his illness.
It seemed harder for him to make friends than it was for the rest of us, because his illness did somewhat hold him back from doing some 'normal' teen things.
I wonder if Logan was suffering great distress because of having to leave his comfortable circle of friends and having to try to break into a new group.
NOT saying that is a good reason to act out to the degree of murder (if that is what happened) but it could go to show how he may have felt like he was even less in control of his life.
Anyone with a chronic illness knows that it's upsetting and distressing to have no control over what your body does. The teen years have enough of their own issues and maybe his health problems, being forced to leave his comfort zone, having what is said to be a 'very authoritative' dad, wanting to live with mom but not being allowed to, etc. etc. etc. could have made him 'snap'?

Was it ever said who the other car in the driveway belonged to? The one they didn't open immediately.
I thought that was odd.

I had read that it was the dad's car. He left it in his driveway parked because he was getting a ride to and from the airport.

1. As previous poster stated, her last name is irrelevant. 2. The car in the driveway belonging to Dad was opened by a locksmith. Why wasn’t his key used? 3. Mom stated she spoke with son on Sunday and he was fine. 4. Who had communication with the GMA on Tuesday? Dad via a text? Was this the only communication with GMA since he departed on Nov 11? 4. Why was GMA staying at the home when she has her own home a few miles away? The grandson could have easily stayed in her home. 5. Speculation is LM traveled solely on Friday when he was stopped at the border. The Dad arrived home on Wed, where was LM for 2 days? 6. In a previous post it was stated Dad’s front door was ajar, the Home had been ransacked, and he noticed the gun safe had been “broken into” while he was unpacking and then called police. Really? His son and Mother were missing and he was interested in unpacking? 7. Why would LM “break in” remove items from
GMA home? He had her keys. 8. There is much more to this story and the Dad isn’t speaking. His son is missing, his Mother is missing and he’s made only one plea on FB for assistance in locating his loved ones. He’s made no statement to the press on his own or through his employer the JCSO, whom has a spokesperson. 9. As previously stated, A LEO with type A personality with a long divorce, continued child custody and visitation filings. There is more to his side of the story. IMO

I believe the sighting in PA was on Thursday, so he did not travel only on Friday.

I also think it makes sense for Gma to stay at Logan’s house (especially if he had bus service to school). She had just moved into her home the previous week and may not have even been unpacked. Actually, the “previous week” was probably during the middle of dad’s trip still, so her staying at the home may have been mutually beneficial.

When my daughter and son in law go away, even if only child is at home, I go and stay at their house if it is in school time. They have more resources for school work at home than at my house.
I think that the father could easily have thought that they had got caught up in something on the way to the airport and were on their way back home.
